England would not have qualified for the World Cup if it wasn't for Steven Gerrard, he saw us through with a world class perforance and a vital goal in the last qualifier against Poland. He is born leader and has been awesome for England over the years,

He's come in for criticsm from the Italy game but you have to remember our manager is Roy Hodgson, who is about as tactically aware as David Moyes! With Liverpool Gerrard is the anchorman, he is our Pirlo, with England, Roy sits Hendo back with Gerrard stifling his attacking abilities and invites pressure.

The sooner Hodgson gives it up and let's a modern manager take over the better because the potential is very much there.

A final note on Gerrard is that at 33 he has just had one of his best seasons with LFC. 13 goals ( amazing for a defensive mid with SAS in the team) and 15 assists. He does great for England too but Hodgson coud do so much better with the system.

Final note, Wilshere for Henderson was the worst sub of the World Cup. Fair enough Jordan was knackerd but Wilshere shouldn't be near the England team. Lampard was the perfect man at the time, england passing around the Italian box, Lampard who's shoots on sight, with all his experience? Would love to have seen that.

To me he always seems rational and level headed- pessimistic maybe, but that's not always a bad trait. He tends to be spot on in his post match interviews too.

Completely agree with this. I don't rate Wilshere, he gives away the ball far too much. Lampard has a part to play at this WC and I hope he isn't going to just sit on the bench the whole time and be there for his 'experience' around the squad, he has more to offer.

Thanks Gerrard for making TWO catastrophic blunders, what a world class player!

Absolutely pathetic!

Showed nothing in the 2 games, the weak challenge for the 1st goal was very poor.

Hasn't turned up at all.
