Should DS and DS users be so quick to reveal episode shocks?
I mean not everyone has time to watch it at that moment and showing a picture of the shock return is hardly spoiler worthy, they could change the picture hours later if they're so concerned about not being first to reveal things...

I think it's perfectly justified that information is fair game once it's aired on TV. If you moved it to an arbitrary point in time afterwards there would still be someone who would have it spoiled for them no matter what that point was. By publishing immediately they are capitalising on the media attention, interest from fans, and the advertising revenue that is generated.

I do know what you're saying.
On the one hand, it probably is fair enough once the episode has aired live for big plot points to be openly discussed, but it does seem (for example) the minute there's a shock in EastEnders, it's spoiled as soon as possible. Take tonight's plot twist, within 30 seconds of it airing there were two separate threads with it spoiled in the title. Not everybody watches live, so perhaps should be a slight limit on when episode plot twists can be spoiled in thread titles, maybe the morning after said episode has aired? |

Is it not fair to say that if a user is unable to watch an episode and are worried about having it spoiled for them, they should refrain from DS/Twitter etc until they have caught up?

EastEnders Twitter is the worst - if your recording to watch later, they post photos & quotes throughout the whole episode!

Once the episode has aired it's fair game imo. I've made the mistake quite a few times of logging onto sites which spoil a programme for me but it's exactly that, my own mistake. Tough luck really.

I disagree why do titles and pictures have to soil it before you have even read it!?

If you haven't watched the episode and don't want it spoiled it's your responsibility to avoid the forums. Once it's aired there is nothing wrong with discussing twists and developments.

Reads like some of you watch every episode on the clock, social life?
Eastenders hock Twist with the logo of Eastenders would suffice. Not RAINIE CROSS returns with a picture of her minutes after. |

I mean, what is the cut off? How long does everyone have to wait in case someone has not yet watched their recording? The onus should be on the viewer who has yet to watch the episode to avoid any discussion. |

Really, either accept there is a high chance you'll get spoilt if you come in or just don't come on the forum for that few hours or days. |

Not every episode live but I do see most of them then as if I'm not meeting friends and come straight home from work the time they air (7.30-9.00) then it co-incides with the time I'm cooking and eating so very easy 'background' tv. Also, a lot of people prefer to keep their social life to the weekends and leave 'school' nights free as they're tired after work and also want to spend that 3 or 4 hours with their family - especially if they have kids. Probably an age thing, I used to go out most weekday evenings when I was in my 20s and single, now I mostly keep it to the weekend - just easier for work, baby sitters etc.

Sorry my post sounded ruder then it was meant to be, I get it that people leave weekdays for family and relaxation.

I do like the Coronation Street spoiler thread:
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=1493227 I do not like spoiler threads that give away the spoiler content within their titles I do not like knowing what will happen about six months in the future. |

People have avoided the actual question.
One - spoilers in the title thread should be a must. Two - Articles can just say "EASTENDERS/HOLLYOAKS SHOCK/TWIST"... THERE IS NO NEED FOR A PICTURE AND NAME TO BE ON THE ARTICLE UNLESS YOU CLICK ON IT. Sorry for the caps. |

If you don't watch the episode live then surely you would know to avoid spoilers and the such like anyway? I know I do.
