With the license fees shortfall being government created, do you approve of the cash shortfall cutbacks since imposed.

No....It's never good when any public service is lost.

The link below (dated April 30th) says it isn't a foregone conclusion. Both your links are dated March 6th. Your second link says nothing about BBC3 except to provide a link to your first link.

Also it is the BBC's decision to possibly axe the channel rather than the government's. For all we know the BBC might have axed it anyway and letting the government take the blame is convenient for them.

From what I've read the channel if axed will go online where the BBC feel that its younger audience feel more at home watching it and some shows will be available via iplayer, so it's not like it's completely gone. Family Guy and American Dad will go however (from BBC3 anyway) as the BBC doesn't have a licence to broadcast the shows online.

The government has taken away income.

To make up the increasing shortfall moving BBC 3 onto broadband type delivery only is their decisions, awaiting ratification. Without ratification the exe has to fall bigger elsewhere.

Don't forget, this is on top of them reducing the radio budget by 20%. Likely as not, many Conservatives would be happiest with 100% Radio and TV gone.
So it is maybe only the start.

If the BBC have a problem making ends meet, the first thing that should go is imported commercial programming.

The core public service output of BBC3 should be kept at the expense of stuff like Family Guy -- the latter can be taken up by one of the many commercial channels available.
