Second place in this group may have a pretty low points tally

Glad we didn't get a winner as neither side deserved one.

The only plus is we didn't get another goalless game.

Shame the guy that scored for Russia didn't come on sooner, they might have won.

Seems that way. I thought they would push Belgium hard in this group based on the qualifying.

I don't know why people fancied Russia to win. I knew they were crap at football, always have been (since it became Russia). And I'm originally from Russia. Didn't need a gene to predict they would play terribly.

That might be the worst goalkeeping error I've ever seen.

I wish BBC would shut up about Twitter.

It's looking like it could be a mirror image of Capello's 2010 campaign. Keeper howler in the first game which you draw 1-1. End up second in your group, and then get thumped by Germany in the second round!

Why bother interviewing Fabio when we all know his English isn't good?

Capello would make a great Hulk.

Is their next game Algeria? That would be a freaky coincidence (and a game to miss if this mirror image thing is to pan out)

BBC giving us a Capello interview to remind us all to be thankful for Roy Hodgson.

They're getting as bad as WWE.

It's all a bit desperate. It doesn't make you hip or down with the kids. I'm on Twitter and I'll freely admit that most people on it a complete mouth-breathers (as you'll know from seeing that stupid ticker on Raw. )

Gotta say, I think Lennon is a great pundit. He really just summed up the difference between Messi and Ronaldo in a way that I've thought about but never quite been able to put into words. Similar to Federer vs Nadal in tennis in that regard.

It sounded like nonsense to me. Ronaldo is more 'manufactured'? He's the best player in the world, probably the most complete attacking player to have ever played the game.

Russia did lose to northern Ireland, so they did..........

It made perfect sense. Ronaldo is less 'natural' than Messi in the sense that he gets ahead on his pace and power, which are attributes that he has had to work very hard to hone. Messi just seems more effortless and has more pure, natural skill. That's why he'll always be superior to Ronaldo in my opinion.

Having just seen the highlights I'm surprised there was only one goalkeeping mistake.

Neither keep could cope with the long range efforts.

The keeper won't play in the second match , we all know that Capello dumped Robert Green.

What did he say?

To me Ronaldo looks like a 16 year old playing with a bunch of 8 year olds. Bigger, stronger, faster, better

Messi looks like an 8 year old playing with a bunch of 15 year olds and he's still better than them

That's how I've always seen it, apologies if a pundit has already said that

That he thinks that people have an affinity/affection for Messi deep down because he is a more natural and instinctive talent while Ronaldo is a workhorse who had to put in a lot more effort to build his game to what it is.

After having nearly 24 hours to think about it, I'm even more incredulous at how bad this match was.

It was worth staying up for the keeper howler though.
