It makes you think a little about all those doping rumours but I doubt stopping doping would even led to that decline because football is way more technical than say athletics or cycling where spread and power is everything.

Err.... Colombia are a very strong side. I would favour them over us.

Chile need a win. Netherlands just need a draw. Chile will have to push forward. Netherlands are not a possession team but a counter attacking team that will play with 5 in the back. So this could play into their style. However they will be without the Flying Dutchman.

I thought Chelsea had done some really good business but they may well have bought two duds.

And Yaya can kill a team on his own if he's really on.

Fabregas at Barcelona had a similar problem to that of Rooney and England. People have an idea of what his best position is but he can't play there due to another player's presence. I still think Fabregas is a good player, albeit one Chelsea didn't need. Good luck to Schurle getting in the team now.

It'll be interesting to see the changes that Barcelona try to make now seeing that they need to reinvent themselves in the post-tiki taka period. Are all these Spanish players shot? I still think Iniesta was their best player tonight.

Spain's last 3 games in Brazil: W0 D0 L3, aggregate score 1-10.

Maybe they are allergic to Brazilian grass?

I feel for the safety of the Brazil people in that case. The riots afterwards will not be pretty.

I think it was just the manner of the performance. Spain have been outstanding over the past 8 years. They have been a team that transformed world football by their play. To see these great players go out in such a manner does not do them any credit to the last 8 years.

You would hope to go out on high. Their is no shame to putting in a good performance and being beat on the night but the performance in both matches has been poor.

I do think tactically they got it so wrong on the night questions over both the main striker and goal keeper. However you have to say the defence don't come out of this well either 7 goals in 2 matches.

I wouldn't be so sure about that...

Brazil normally have Chile in their pocket. Netherlands on the other hand would be interesting....

Brazil have been crap so far. I really do think Chile would have a great chance of beating them.

I think a lot of Spanish players have lost stock, as they say, this week

Time for Spain to get a fresh new manager. Del Bosque has been brilliant for Spain but it will be a pleasant decision for Del Bosque to resign and allow Pep Gaurdiola to take charge of Spain. I've realized spain struggle against south american teams who have similar style of play to them. Chile pass and move the ball in a similar fashion to spain and know how to play against Spain. I was angered by constant refusal to cross the ball into the box for Costa to have a good chance of scoring. Perhap's going out is a positive sign for them, since they've dominated the world stage for such a long period of time. Pep Gaurdiola will revolutionize spain and make them a lot more stronger.

If they were doing it though, why stop now? I mean, Rafael Nadal was one of the other names rumoured in the whole Fuentes thing and he's still going pretty strong.

I'd expect them to. I bet Chile at the start due to them being long odds (40/1) but having watched them tonight, I'm not sure there is another team in the competition with that energy and I wish I'd bet more. I just hope they can last the pace because they put in some shift in that game.

I'm not sure that Pep is the man considering that he's the high priest of tiki taka. He needs to give himself a shake a bit too and go back to the high energy and high pressing that his early Barcelona side had. I think possession obsession and slow pace crept into that style and it either needs a major facelift or to be retired for a while so it can be brought back to it's brilliant beginnings again.
