There's a hint of The Emperor's New Clothes about Brazil in this World Cup....

I don't think the poster meant it that way. I think he was referring to the way in which he took the penalty. IE not a one fluid motion, which I think is the legal way.

This to me shows the desperation of Brazil, that they ,of all teams, are resorting to dirty tactics. The dive from Marcello last night was just embarrasing and funny at the same time. I thought the referee was superb last, incredibly strong in that atmosphere, and not taking any of their nonsense.
That dive was a hilarious - there was a point in the dive when he beats his own chest as if the referee might think he was held back. It was worse than the Fred dive.

To be fair nobody has been really talking up their chances of actually winning . Most are going for Argentina ,
They are hosting ,they are a football mad nation , they used to be a flair team .
So there is a lot of talk about brazil , there team is pretty average and I don't expect them to win .
The last Brazil team to play with any flair was in 1986 , the best in 1982 and 1970

Cameroon look like the perfect opponents for Brazil to get up and running.

Leaving Coutinho out of the squad looks a mistake.

Apart from Neymar they have no magic or flair and are struggling to open teams up, Coutinho would definately have helped with all that.

He blew a bit hot and cold for Liverpool last season but still played some great games and mainly against the best teams in the league, based on the evidence so far he was surely worth a place over one of the many defensive midfielders Brazil have in their squad.

Cameroon will bend over and cover their failings up for a little longer but when they play a good team they will be in trouble, even if they do see off the first good team they face there's no way they will see off 2 or 3 in a row, they would do really really well to make the semis imo.

still early days

they look solid in defence with a great CB pairing, a tough midfield and bit of flair and power upfront. CF is only problem position really.

they might not entertain like brazil teams of the past but i would still pick them to beat chile if they met.

anything less than QF will be failure so i hope they make it.

BIB - I would say for Brazil, anything less than the title will be considered a failure.

Brazil are a good team will go far in the tournament. I dont think they will win it. There just isnt any flair players in the team, apart from Naymar. The midfield isnt as strong as it has been in the past, and only one forward to aim for.

A team doesn't have to dominate and brush aside all before them after two group stage games to be considered good or not. Brazil will almost certainly win the group, without having overexerted themselves, they will likely go far in this World Cup.

Exactly right. The best tournament teams do what they need to do to get out of the group. Italy in 1982 drew their first 3 games. Brazil should have won against Mexico and would have done so if it wasn't for an inspired performance from their keeper. They will thump Cameroon and finish top of the group. What more do they need to do?

Brazil v Holland or Chilie in the second round is going to be tasty.

Look Brazil are fine. On another day they score 2 or more against Mexico. It will take a good team to stop them.

Argentina didn't look too hot against Bosnia either. But You can't tell till a team goes behind.
