After their stunning victory against the reigning champions, you would expect Netherlands to win easily against the Socceroos.

An interesting stat is that RvP has scored 10 goals in his last 9 appearances for his country.

Enjoy the match!

Can mods move it to the world cup thread please..

Holland are my other team, but will they get the goals against a team that will probably try to defend for 90 mins, with the odd hope of a corner or a cross to score from.

I think they might struggle in that regard. They are a counterattacking side and won't be given the same space as Spain left at the back. I still fancy them to win 2-0 or so but it could be a graft.

^^ I have a bet at 3-0 half time I think they will do it, but how many more they'll get I'm not sure.

Spain did attack more and left themselves open than the Australians will but I still think their going to be destroyed by the Orange army.

Big question today is can Holland back up their incredible display v Spain with another good performance and another win or will their players have bought into the hype around them and act like they have won the World Cup already?

I don't think the Dutch are going to get complacent to be fair

I'd be very surprised if a professional footballer thinks they have won the World Cup after just one match.

Netherlands: Cillessen; Janmaat, Vlaar, De Vrij, Martins Indi, Blind; De Jong, De Guzman, Sneijder; Van Persie (c) Robben

Australia: Ryan; Davidson, Wilkinson, Spiranovic, McGowan; Jedinak (c), McKay, Bresciano; Oar, Leckie, Cahill

No changes for the Netherlands after their 5-1 demolition of Spain, while Australia make 2 changes from the side that lost 3-1 to Chile.

Hopefully RVP continues his good form at this World Cup, could be a high scoring game.

The Dutch surprised me, didn't think they could beat Spain. Today's game will show whether or not they can play attacking football with penetration against a team who will have men behind the ball.

If Australia nick a point the group will blow wide open again.

Looking forward to this. Australia got caught cold by Chile last time out, I'd be surprised if that happened again. I expect them to make it difficult for the Netherlands but the class of the Dutch should see them claim the three points in the end.

Commentator was talking about the Dutch wanting to top the group and avoid Brazil. While that is obviously the aim, I don't really think that they would fear that Brazil side.

Regardless of how they look right now you still want to avoid Brazil, they still haven't lost on home soil for over a decade. Indeed they haven't lost a competitive game at home since 1975. They will be tough to beat.

Yeah best to avoid Brazil, they haven't been tested by a top side yet. They showed at the confederations cup what level they are capable of.

Note to commentators, you are speaking to UK, so MPH, not kilometers.. No idea what that speed is!

Better start from the Aussies compared to last time out for them. Putting themselves about well.
