Soaps dragging out stories (EE & HO)

So we've got

Charlie Cotton - still no idea who he is, why he is here etc. Been dragging on for months and spoilers aren't featuring hum or Dot

Lucy murder - till next Feb

Shirley is Mick's Mum - indicated is the Xmas reveal

Ian/Denise relationship - doomed but no end in sight

Lauren/Peter - obvious what will happen but going on for ages

HO

JP rape story - No advancement what so ever and no end in sight

Nancy/Robbie - dragging on

Sienna - still hanging around

I think some long term stories are great but particularly the JP story & Dot/Charlie story seems to have gone on forever

Is this a good thing? Is it the lack of spoilers that is more frustrating on these?

Sienna will hopefully hang around for a long time.

She is absolutely brilliant.

Sienna is not just sticking around she is a character with stories to tell. They weren't going to just get rid of her after what she did. So I disagree strongly with that.

Second - Nancy and Robbie only started the other week!!

Don't know what's long in your eyes if you think those two are long stories.

As far as JP rape storyline is concerned - yes the lack of spoilers are frustrating but we can be pretty sure at a guess that the rape reveal will happen in July/August and we are already half way through June.

Lucy murder investigation in EastEnders is ongoing and is holding viewer interest (for me anyway) as is the fallout of Sharon's attack.

Nancy/Robbie only started recently and doesn't interest me much anyway.

I like the charlie cotton story and how it's being portrayed. There's also a lot of other characters with storyline so it's not like there's nothing else going on either

Life is long and some of us like a nice meaty storyline that's not wrapped up in 5 minutes

The other HO storyline left in limbo is who killed Fraser, whether it was really Trevor?

Charlie and Dot - yes, its been going on for a while - could do with a SL update or closure

Lucy murder - again been going on for a while - I am personally loosing interest in the SL but that might just be me, it really needs to pick up pace for me because if it carries on at this slow pace I really wont care who killed her or why by February!

Shirley and Mick - dont care about this SL - sorry

Ian and Denise - see above ^

Lauren and Peter - the obvious is going to happen so why dont they just get on with it!

JP rape - agree, this is a cracking story line but its been abandoned - HO's need to bring this back into the limelight

Sienna - I love the ongoing Sienna SL, Anna Passey is utterly brilliant and as far as I am concerned they can drag this out as much as they like

Nancy and Robbie - SL only started a couple of weeks ago so no, its not dragging and I am interested to see where it goes

With EastEnders, the story lines will most likely speed up in Autumn. There's no point putting they're best work/reveals out now/during Summer when the number of viewers is at its lowest. They'll wait till Autumn for maximum exposure and impact.

I dont mind the pacing too much on EE these days, there is enough compelling stuff to not make me moan and think 'c'mon! get back to Charlie!'...when Dexter and Fatboy turn up again then all bets are off coz if they have filler stuff it will be v frustrating. Dexter and Nancy I dont hate but god only knows what they have in store for Fatboy :/

Dragging out storylines just makes them tedious but you don't want a really short one week rushed storyline either.

Somewhere in the middle would be good.

Couldn't agree more.
I don't give a stuff who killed Lucy now, lost interest quite rapidly.
Max's affair with the cop - a couple of kisses, really??? nothing for ages. - bored
Darker Ronnie - She has had no screen time for ages, then brought her back to write her out - Yawn
Honey and Billy - Lots of potential but again an non starter. The point is???
Sonia and Martin - When will this conclude and when will she be moved back to the square permanently - dragging it out
Johnny being gay - so over this crappy storyline and sick of the wooden acting - bigger yawn

Hardly keeping us talking and grabbing our interest is it?
Viewers like to see things play out on screen in a timely fashion or they will get bored. It's not rocket science, just character overkill.

I agree. Although the storylines sound good on paper, they are not playing out too well on screen, which is a shame because I love Eastenders and want it to succeed. I don't know what they are thinking by screening it the way they are. Cut the cast and tell us a story with no long boring gapping though it. If it was just one storyline, it would be ok but it's all of them pretty much.

Nothing is annoying me more than the JP rape story.
