It depends, if we show no encouragement and just turn up to make up the numbers then yes, but so far we've looked livelier than we've been for years with a young squad who will continue to develop.

I think he does identify issues but he's a ditherer and waits too long to change things. It was clear at half time that Welbeck was having a shocker yet why was he not subbed.

It doesn't matter. The problem is not the manager, nor the players. The problem is the English way of playing football, that is encouraged by all of us. We play crude football in this country, and we like it that way.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and presume you are doing a parody of an idiot fan in the pub screaming 'NEED MORE PASHUN!'.

Of course not. All the top managers would have:

- Not even brought England's best left back for the past decade to the tournament
- Played Rooney on the left of midfield and expected him to protect the left back when he never plays there for United
- Come into the tournament with Jagielka starting in defence when he's not good enough
- Played Henderson as a defensive midfielder when he never plays there for Liverpool (he actually did a while ago but it didn't work, he doesn't have the awareness or the discipline)
- Expected a 34-year old Gerrard to play in a 2-man midfield and protect the back four almost single-handedly as well as controlling the game

Oh, and he doesn't think Suarez is world class. That's probably the worst thing.

Other than saying you'd have brought Cole you are just saying the players we have are not good enough. Who else would you have brought that is better? Where is this quality centre half to replace Jagielka?

I am not sure who we could bring in who would do much better. The real star managers like Mourinho, Guardiola and Ancelotti won't want to leave the Champions League. I would prefer us to have an Engliah manager but what English manager is out there?

If you'd read between the lines you'd have seen I was attacking the system as much as the players. Square pegs in round holes and all that. 4-2-3-1 with the players Hodgson picked was asking for trouble.

If you want to use Gerrard in a deep-lying playmaker role now you have to give him support, Rodgers discovered this ages ago. Play him in a midfield of 3 or more or don't play him at all. If you'd swapped Gerrard out for Pirlo in these 2 games he'd have been just as overwhelmed with the workload, but then Italy know how to get the best out of him, Hodgson doesn't know how to get the best out of Gerrard.

Instead of Jagielka I'd have given Jones a chance. He might not yet be a great defender, but he's young and already better than an average Jagielka, and he played well against Ecuador.

Give Harry Redknapp a shot - we have nothing to lose

Re Ashley Cole, Baines has been outperforming him all season. Cole can't even hold his place at his club. Cole isn't out best left back any more. He isn't even our second best left back.

Wrong. Rooney often plays on the left for Man Utd. Hodgson judged Sterling in the middle against Pirlo was a better match up.

Who says Jagielka isn't good enough? We aren't spoilt for choice in the centre and Cahill and Jagielka are the best we have.

Someone has to play alongside Gerrard. Henderson is more than capable of playing the holding role. Who else would you suggest. Maybe having a young clubmate there offsets the problem of Gerrard being 34.

Hodgson is a good coach and he's put together a good blend of youth and experience. No way should he be sacked now.

1) How has Baines been outperforming Cole? Because he takes a mean free kick? Cole was class whenever I saw him play for Chelsea (happy to be corrected by a Chelsea fan), he was just unfortunate that Azpilicueta was doing a fantastic job in his position and that Mourinho knows how to rotate/make use of a squad.

2) Rooney has played on the left twice in the past 2 seasons for United. Once against Swansea and once against CFR Cluj, and both times I'd imagine it was on the left of a front 3 where he'd have less defensive duties. That's not 'often', and it's not sufficient preparation to play there against Italy.

3) I say Jagielka isn't good enough. You're entitled to disagree.

4) Again, Henderson isn't a defensive midfielder. As above, I wouldn't play anyone alongside Gerrard because I wouldn't have him in a midfield two expected to protect the back four and control the game against a four man Italy midfield.

5) Hodgson is an alright coach when playing 4-4-2 and having the right players to play 4-4-2. He's not so good at playing 4-2-3-1.

1. I never said it was about free kicks. Baines has been England's first choice left back all season. Cole hasn't been playing. No way should he be chosen above Baines.

2. You're the one limiting it to the past two seasons. He often played on the left before he threatened to leave and got a better contract. It's not his best position but he was asked to play there so Sterling could play in the middle against Italy. It was a one off.

3. I asked you who should play instead. Cahill and Jagielka are the best we have who are fit.

4. Again who would you have instead of Henderson. It's all very well saying who shouldn't play.

5. Rubbish. How can he be an ok coach for 442 but not other formations? You did see how well England looked not playing 442 against Italy? We lost because of a couple of defensive mistakes, not because of coaching or tactics. It was the players who made mistakes. It's not just Hodgson on his own either. He has a large coaching team. Are they all 442 only? You're entitled to your opinion but I'd rather take the judgement of people inside the game who rate Hodgson highly, including players who've played for him. Fans like us only see a fraction of the full picture.

Well not saying I sack Hodgson but Harry Redknapp has to be in with a shout & has done well at the different clubs he has been at but of course he has no international experience.
