Anyone think it would make a good story that Ian discovers he has contracted HIV/aids from Rainie?

Poor Ian won't have much luck if we have our way I'm hoping for a quieter year next year after the Lucy reveal as he gets his life back on track and focuses on his business'

I'm just wondering whether the Rainie prostitute connection might lead to the revelation that Lucy was also involved in prostitution at some level.

Poor Ian, his daughter has just died and his best friend is in a coma. Not to mention he is stressing out, paying money to Les etc

If he didn't have all this on, I'd say yes. After all, his cousin had HIV (and Ian and Mark were pretty close) so he would recognise the symptoms and be aware hat he was suffering. But other than Denise and Peter, there wouldn't be anyone to support him. Dot's hardly around anymore, Sharon is in hospital and Ian and Alfie's friendship seems to be forgotten about until necessary.

I'd say really, the best character to have this storyline with is Max Branning. As a result of all of the women he as been with, an STD story might be the thing to help him change his ways and hopefully move him forwards as a character

I think it would work well if Denise discovered she had an STI. Giving her both a good reason to leave Ian and a story arc of her own.

It would be funny if both Jane and Denise caught something via Ian and Rainie....

Love the ignorance here over 'catching AIDS'. Shows all those campaigns in the 80s really worked.

Not AIDS, too extreme, he's just lost his daughter. I do agree it would be funny for him to give both Jane and Denise something nasty though. It would expose both of Ians affairs with such an innovative flair - would be quite funny too.

OMG, I really wanna see this now.... anyone else??

I do think it would work really well. So many ways to weave the story. Denise suspecting Ian, Ian blaming Rainie, but having to tell Jane. Jane already knowing, as her bits are on fire, blaming Denise! What about Masood, or was that before Ian and Jane. Could be disastrous for the square. Maybe a circle of STIs all the way to Lucy linking everyone with her death

Too similar to his cousin Mark Fowler's storyline. He just should be given the clap.

I think the murder storyline is enough misery for Ian.
I'm not sure about another character for an HIV story. I'd rather they went with character-led stories for a while, rather than focusing on "issues".
I'd actually like to see Ian get some sort of closure on Lucy's death and get back with Jane - but only if Laurie Brett is in it for the long-haul. I hated how close Carol and David got to their happy ending only to have it not happen because of an actor leaving.
