a World Cup question, no-one else to ask, sorry
so if we lose tonight, is that it - THE END. totally over and we have to come back home?
What happens if we draw? or only lose by one goal.. or win by one goal thanks I would ask the other half but he's a nervous wreck as it is and it's not even 6pm! |

If they lose then they will be sent home. If they draw it will depend on how the other teams in the group do.

If we lose, we have 1 game left with Costa Rica and Italy having 2, all they need is a draw in there last 2 games and we are out, we can only qualify on goal difference but that is a very slim chance.

If we lose we're not going through to later stages but will still play last group game next tuesday
If its a draw we're still in it |

There is a joke going round that there is a plane waiting on the tarmac to take the England players home. I really want them to win, Rooney might even score a goal me hopes.

I imagine it is not compulsory but they often do it because the players are disappointed and fans back home will be annoyed so it doesn't look right to be partying and having a good time afterwards i think.
Ah yes, fair enough. I suppose they could do a raffle for the now empty hotel rooms couldn't they - give the money to charity or something. |

England lose and Costa Rica and Italy draw - England out
England lose and Costa Rica beat Italy - England out England lose and Italy beat Costa Rica - England can still qualify if they beat Costa Rica and Italy beat Uruguay but they'd need a good win (i.e. by a few goals) If England draw, they go through if they beat Costa Rica and a) Italy also beat Costa Rica and Uruguay b) Italy beat Costa Rica and draw against Uruguay c) Italy beat Costa Rica and lose against Uruguay by only one goal d) Costa Rica beat Italy and Uruguay also beat Italy but by only one goal I may be wrong with one or two permutations. I may have missed one or more out. What can I say? I'm just trying to help .

If they lose tonight, they are pretty much out because even if they win the 3rd game, depending on how the rest do, they will be out anyway. The other games will still rate well, but they may dip due to England being knocked out if that's the case.

AFAIK even if England lose tonight they're not definitely eliminated yet...but they would need other results in the group to go their way plus a win in the final game to scrape through.

If England lose, Italy fail to win and Pauline gets evicted will Helen's pass to the final be revoked?
