Good Luck against Costa Rica and hope you get the large goal difference much talked of today.

I already told you that I'm not English and don't support the England team.

It's 3 matches minimum that all the countries have to play before it gets to the knock-out stage. It's a meaningless match now for England but still has to be played.

Wonderful to see Costa Rica punching above their weight. I loved them back in 1990 when they beat Scotland and Sweden.

All teams play three group games

England are out because they won't get the required points even with a win.

I don't know, they had a tough battle against Australia, it'll be interesting to see them against Mexico/Brazil in the next round.

South (and Central) American teams are looking too good for me.

There should be a test to be able to post in the football sections

I forgot they beat Scotland in 1990. Thanks for reminding me.

Bingo. What Waddle said last night.

I haven't seen either of Costa Rica's matches in full but from the bits I have seen I've been very impressed with them - particularly their organisation and quality of attacking play.

From an England point of view, I have to say I'm glad our fate has been sealed at the earliest opportunity because for three separate results to go our way were the longest of straws, quite frankly, yet it seemed so many people were still willing to clutch at them - and now they can't.

I hope people don't turn their ire on Italy not doing England a favour because that is not the bottom line - the bottom line is that England did not do themselves a favour by being on terms in both of the games they played and going on to lose them both.

Just out of interest, what would the qualification scenario now be if England had secured a point last night?

To be honest if a manager can't change the usual way of picking a team based on pressure, then whats the point, we need a strong manager to say up yours to the sponsors and the media, and base his selection based on a team rather than individuals.

I think just about everybody has been guilty of such casual arrogance in respect to that point.

I don't really care that they're out. But the match can still have an effect on who finishes top of the group and therefore plays an easier team in the next round.

We could have gone through second if we had a good win against Costa Rica, and if Uruguay beat Italy.

We'd have to beat Costa Rica and hope that Uruguay beat Italy, but not by more goals than we beat Costa Rica.

Of course Hodgson is safe in his job - no other man is stupid enough to touch the poisoned Chalis!

I've had this opinion for some years now, I thought that with Capello things were going to change, sadly I was wrong.

It'll only be a confident, top level manager who is likely to have the balls to do that and I doubt any of them would want to manage England. A few eyes may be opened after this tournament but I feel like I say that every time and yet no lessons are learned.

I think as fans we need to change as well, when Milner comes on we moan, yet he is a better winger than Sturridge or Wellbeck, playing him in his proper position would be better than playing Sturridge out wide. I bet if Barry was picked in the squad he would have got stick,,yet he is a much better holding midfielder than Gerrard, i think as fans we don't really know what we want for the best to be honest

Again, your idea may have merit, but will NEVER happen.

The FA rule the English team, and would never let any manager get away with it.

If Italy don't beat Uruguay by 3 goals then Costa Rica will also win the group as long as England don't beat Costa Rica.
