What an idiot Balotelli is for missing that. Absolute brilliance from Pirlo to create the chance though. Italy coming into the game now.

How many times has Savage referred to Costa Rica as Chile?

Balotelli's a good player, but he's not as good as he thinks he is. Very good but not great ala Suarez.
If Balotelli had the commitment, he would be unstoppable, to me he looks like someone who doesnt enjoy the game, he just happens to be very good at it, but he would prefer to be good at something else

Pirlo is playing some lovely passes now but Italy have been sloppy at remaining onside. Linesman has been erratic though.

England made a meal of trying to beat the 'whipping boys' in the previous two world cups, Trinidad and Tobago in 2006 and Algeria in 2010. Embarrassing stuff.

But Costa Rica are far far better than either of those two. If England go in with the attitude of 'whipping boys' which for some strange reason sections of the media are still characterising Costa Rica as, then it may well be car crash stuff.

Italy must have been taking lesson from England in giving the ball away.

Costa Rica are getting a lot of chances. Uruguay are going to capitalise and finish these chances when they face Italy! Uruguay are gonna top the group at this rate!

Italy don't look totally convincing at the back.

That looked a definite penalty.

I like this referee.

How can that not be a penalty????

Shocking. Truly shocking. Then tells the player to get up.

Quite a few dodgy calls in this game. That was the biggest.

Savage seems pretty depressed/highly strung. Thought it was Lawro out there for a minute.

And we're probably out after that.
