It's really just Pirlo that is passing well. Most of the rest have been sloppy. Costa Rica are well worthy of the lead here. Italy only really dominated for about 10 minutes and wasted a glorious chance.

If I remember rightly, Robbie Savage said England wouldn't get out of the group before it all started.
He is probably right about the penalty and it is a deserved lead for Costa Rica.
