More important is producing a pool of players talented enough to beat a single half decent team. We have one of the best, most competitive leagues in the world, state of the art facilities, a large population, football is our most popular sport... and we produce a national squad scarcely able to keep possession for over 30 seconds.

Sam allerdyce has shown his international class in the recent soccer aid match. A ready made England manager
Pity he is a bit Mike Bassett. I reckon Stevie Wonder for next manager.

Every suggestion in this thread is awful, which proves that it's pointless to sack the current manager if you can't get someone better. Leave him be.

Yes, he's an awful suggestion in that he wouldn't take the job in a million years.

Just like Sir Alf Ramsey would be an awful suggestion.

Good point. Premier League partly to blame for me.

No idea, but I'd be surprised if Hodgson is still the manager by the time the first Euro qualifier comes up.

He's an enormous part of the problem.
Like every other England manager just about, changing the manager isn't going to make any difference.

It's as realistic as suggesting Bobby Robson.

Ryan Giggs, to bring the fun back, as he did with Man U

Terry Venables, though he would have to stop doing those Bet365 ads at half time i guess

That Spanish guy with the sweaty armpits from a few years ago (?)

It's not an insult, it's a belief. You reckon a coach has to be under 45 right? Check the ages of the Italian and Uruguayan managers who beat us. Or the Brazilian coach. Or Dutch. Chile have impressed right? Go check. Argentina. Germany. I'll wait here.

The only coach that really falls within your remit is Deschamps, who's 45 and therefore on borrowed time as he'll magically crumble within the year.
