Every two years inbetween the major championships, play it in one of the countries involved (Euro style) and as well as the four home countries, incluse Irish Republic, Gibraltar, and as guests the highest-placed two european countries (eg Holland, Germany, Spain or whoever).

That gives our home countries a proper competition which can't end up in elimination from a major.

I doubt there is enough interest for fans to care, plus there is no space in the calendar to fit it in. The home internationals are a relic of the past which is best left there.

Make space.

From where? The fixture calendar is crowded as it is without adding more games to it.

Drop pointless friendlies. Especially those in June...when a proper competition could take place.
two groups of four = three games, and the top teams play the final = 4 games max. Could be done and dusted in two weeks.

There's too many games. 100 caps for England in about 5 years. Tom Finney only got 80 odd. Matthews 50 odd.

Wasn't it. Isn't it. Amazing.

Why not just arrange friendlies against children so nobody has to be outjumped at a corner while we're at it?

The last thing players would want after a long season is to play a meaningless tournament.

All the other teams want to beat England so it's good and proper competition, irrespective that it's not a World's or Euros.

It's not good competition, you're suggesting closing the doors around us so those foreigners who are good at football can't make us sad.

It's very good and proper competition. Especially if the best two European teams are involved. remember I said that the H I's would INCLUDE the best two European teams.

Why would those teams wish to play in such a tournament?. I'm sure teams like Germany and Italy are desperate to test themselves against the might of teams like Northern Ireland and Wales.

Because it's better than friendlies and there would be cash in it.

I doubt the cream of Europe would want to waste their time on a regular basis.

They wouldn't. It would only be the highest two at a given time.

They could probably make more money by playing a friendly in Asia than they would in participating in a post season tournament in England.

But would they get the *proper competition* experience of playing in front of 60,000 at Hampden?

That's what I mean by the cream of Europe. At least one of the best two would be taking part in the Confederations Cup some years for a start, and then you're just asking if anyone good would like to come and play Northern Ireland for no actual reward.

It wouldn't be a proper competition experience, just a glorified friendly match.

Which is what all games are outside of the World and Euro cups.

Qualifiers are competitive games with actual purpose. There are meaningless friendlies dotted around the calendar, but they already get in the way as it is.

Qualifiers ARE part of the W and E cups.

They're part of the qualifying process, but not the finals. What's your actual point anyway? There are pointless friendlies that people hate, so let's add more of them but against the same teams?
