This is what I imagine what goes on in the heads of the players of Honduras.

Enner Valencia joins Benzema, Muller, Van Persie & Robben on 3 goals for the tournament.

Curitiba is apparently 3,000ft above sea level, not as much as Quito, but maybe helping Ecuador a bit.

Monteiro did very well to restrain himself there, it really looked like he was going to lamp Costly then.

Good spot by the ref, I initially didn't see the hand ball by Valencia.

Match petered out after Ecuador got what turned out to be the winner but it was still one of the more watchable games we've seen in this timeslot - largely because of the reminders of 70s and 80s First Division encounters the tackling regularly provided.
Still think both sides will go out and Switzerland will go through, though, because I don't see Ecuador getting a better result against France than the Swiss will against Honduras. Two more goals for Enner Valencia, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him at an English club by the time the new Premier League season begins. No red card either! |

Fairly entertaining overall. Ecuador deserved the win. I'd like to see them qualify for the next phase but as Jason points out above it looks unlikely with the final set of group fixtures the way they are.

Both of these teams looked more dangerous than England on the attack.

If you like that sort of football then fine but most people would be criticising England if they attacked like that and it's not the way to beat teams better than Honduras or Ecuador. |
