The Sun is crass and reactionary. It exists to whip its readers into an angry frenzy and they don't care if they have to lie or bend the truth to get the desired effect. Even if Rooney was the one to blame (and he really, really isn't) going after his kids is a disgrace. But the mouth breathing population of the country will have a hate figure for the next couple of weeks now so mission accomplished.

Completely agree with all of this, and to think there was suppose to be less hype over this World Cup than ever before, nothing will ever change. For all the bad press and derision football fans get, it's the once every four years fan that helps make a mockery of English football in general.
