Reasons to be cheerful
1. We're not out yet. If Italy beat Costa Rica and Uruguay, and England beat Costa Rica (probably 2-0) then we're into the second round. All three of these results are, on paper at least, not unlikely to happen.
2. Rooney has at last scored a World Cup goal. 3. If we do go out, we do have some decent young talent in the team for the future. 4. England are the third ranked team in the group. Not many actually expected them to progress. Therefore, if we do finish third, we've at least met expectations! |

I am cheerful, as England could be out. Ideally the Italy/costa rica match will be a draw, and England will be out. Failing that, Italy win, and then play out a boring 0-0 draw with Uruguay. I am annoyed Uruguay couldnt beat Costa Rica, if they had England would have been out now.

It's the manner in which we are going out which is frustrating. Set up perfectly against Italy then it turns out the exact same plan against Uruguay which was never gonna work. If we went out based on 3 good attacking performances I'd be like "okay fair enough but we gave it a great go" right now if we play Tuesday like we did yesterday I'd be pissed.
Maybe we'll see that young squad in friendlies but so far it's the typical 11 other than maybe Sterling. |

Reasons to be cheerful? It's a great World cup and the games are on at reasonable times.
