If you'd said before the tournament that England would have done as well as Spain, no one would have believed you.........

No, attack were pretty good. You might be suffering amnesia as everyone was saying after the Italy game the attack was great and its something we'd never seen in an England side for ages. Last night and the Italy game, the defence and midfield were the problem, not the attack.
Really, 1 goal, which the "worst defender" put on a plate.

Same as Ireland and Holland in Euro 2012.

England weren't abysmal getting knocked out against Germany in 2014.
But being knocked out after two matches is.

The Scots must be loving this.

Has Alex Salmond used England's elimination as ammunition for the "Yes To Independence" campaign yet?
Why the hell would he..................................we're already independent as far as football is concerned.

That won't be another disappointment.
Surprising how AM is rated in the UK media. He's crap. One lucky result.
F*ck me he's one lucky sod then. He's been lucky at Wimbledon, lucky in New York and lucky at London 2012.

Even Sven, Hoddle or Capello would likely not have qualified from this group with this set of England players. They might have, but then again Hodgeson may have if Rooney's header against the woodwork vs Uruguay went in for example, but it's a game of fine margins.

Its the first time since 1986 england failed to qualify for the knockout stage, I'm surprised Roy Hodson has survived for this long.

Rubbish England deserved to be knocked out to be honest. The Premiership might be the best league in the world but it's not because of the English players. It has killed the national game and will continue to do so or the decades ahead.

Not sure, when he was manager of Switzerland I'm pretty sure they got through the group stages, blame the players more

What are you talking about?

We reached the quarter finals in 86.

No need for speeches I can tell you that Scotland's WC viewership have risen quite sharply with last night's result and the fact that Gary Lineker chose to show his Italian roots tonight - those clowns in the media are the reason that England are hated on every continent of the world ... does he realise how stupid he looks when the BBC coverage is going out to the whole of the UK??

If only eh?? let's face it England have lost against a very average Italy who's sole danger man was a 35 year old with a wild man beard in the middle of the park who somehow managed to run the show and stroll the game for 90 minutes. Add the fact that a clearly unfit Suarez still managed to nab 2 goals - both of these events must have been England's greatest fears yet they seem to have done absolutely nothing to negate these sole threats ... that has got to come down to coaching??

Roy Hodgson deserves to get eggs and shoes thrown at him when he returns to england, I'd be the first in the que to have my bucket full of eggs all ready. Rooney is a talented player and he plays rooney on the left??? what a joke, he should of been playing in the middle not the left. The defensive organization was complete a joke in the contrary to the sophisticated organization of Italy and Uruguay.

Christ you're an idiot. "I'm annoyed about a football match. I know, I'll assault a man in his mid sixties. Great!"

So what is it going to be? Lots complain about Rooney being on the left and lots of others complain about him being moved to the middle. Fact of the matter is that the team performed best in the match when he was on the left but he played better in the middle. So its a fine balance to strike.

And Italy and Uruguay aren't particularly sophisticated defensively. It's just that English football has a kick and rush culture that is too easy for experienced players to defend against.

I have watched all the games up to now and what I could see is that most teams played with fire and passion , that did not seem to happen with England , I feel gutted for my English Grand children

IF I am honest, It will be a much better tournament now England are out. I have got to the point where I see the England flag and I see failure.

Yet the Netherlands with a population of just 16 million, compared to England with 53 million, seem to be doing pretty well, as do other smaller countries who also have foreign players.
