Friday: An angry Roxy is on the warpath, but will she be able to forgive? Lauren takes charge of a risky situation, but will she get the answers she is looking for? Last week those who voted on the Stars of the Week thread thought that Aleks Shirovs gave the best performance, he won by 35 votes and the runners up were.... - 2nd Place - Roxy Mitchell - 25 Votes 3rd Place - Cora Cross & DC Emma Summerhayes - 15 Votes 4th Place - Lauren Branning & Sharon Rickman - 12 Votes 5th Place - Tina Carter - 11 Votes 6th Place - Fiona 'Tosh' Mackintosh & Max Branning - 10 Votes Lets take a look at this week's EastEnders... Tuesday: Phil is fraught after being given some devastating news. Ian starts to panic when events come back to haunt him. Wednesday:Phil allows Shirley to take charge, but learns more than he expected to. Johnny is left humiliated by Linda's actions. Shocked by Les's revelation, is Peter being lied to? Friday: Shirley forces Phil to reveal his true feelings. The Carters help Dean prepare the salon for its opening. After some home truths, Ian's attempt at spontaneity doesn't go to plan. Stan. one of the best things about the show.
Lola. She was great with Ian. I've gone from wanting her away from Peter to thinking that she's great in the Beale family. Mick and Nancy. Their scenes have been good this week. |

Shirley, Stan and Phil were all on top of their game this week!
Letitia Dean was good until Sharon woke up...no, i'm kidding, she is improving but I wouldn't say she was the star of the week yet. Special mention to Mick and Nancy - love their scenes together. |

This was always Sharon's week.
Shirley and Phil have provided good support to that. As have Johnny, Linda, Nancy and Mick. And a vote for Rainie's shock return. |

1. Shirley Carter: Linda Henry's such a skilled actor. Even at Shirley's most morally questionable, she still makes me care about the character. Her reaction to Phil and Sharon's engagement, and her boozy, teary tale of Mick's birth in Tuesday's excellent episode were real highlights but she was great across the week, as she always is.
2. Ian Beale: Ugh. I really don't like Ian much, I'm not interested in him and I don't really rate Adam Woodyatt. I don't like having to vote for him, and yet he has a week like this and I have to. The Rainie reveal, his visit to the hospital, his interactions with Masood and Lola, the Scrabble game with Denise, all very well played and enjoyable, particularly his sudden switch in emotion during the Scrabble. Hmph. Rude. 3. Johnny Carter: I know Johnny's very popular around these parts but he doesn't do much for me usually. He's an interesting character with lots of potential but I think Sam Strike is the weakest Carter actor by some distance. However, this week was Johnny at his best. He was touching with Sharon before the attack, then the storm of emotions which followed, directed at Linda and himself, made for compelling viewing, even if it did peter out a bit as the week went on. Sam's showing signs of improvement too which is nice to see. 4. Rainie Cross: I love the surprise returns so much, but I love them even more when they give us a character and actress as awesome as this one. I hope this will be a long stint because there's so much that can be done with her. Tanya Franks is talented enough to bring any material to life so I have high hopes. If she'd appeared more this week, she'd be higher. Her return got me all excited. 5. Phil Mitchell: While I thought his performance was overshadowed by Shirley, I can't say I wasn't gripped by his actions across the week. It was never clear exactly which we he'd go in the end regarding Shirley, which worked well. I thought his quiet panic and fury at the attackers was also nicely played. Honourable Mentions: Sharon Rickman: As Ell-Ren said, Letitia Dean isn't Star of the Week material just yet but this week was a big step forward. She finally has something she's lacked since her return: potential. Her scenes with Johnny were great too, it's interesting that her most compelling relationship is with someone so unexpected. Her performance didn't quite grab me enough to make the top 5 but her future in the show looks brighter now. Stan Carter: Really enjoyed his scenes with Cora, Dot and Dean, especially the moment when he was touched by Dean's choice of name for the salon. I continue to be unsure how to read Stan, whether he's a goodie or a baddie or bits of both, but I love that about him. Mick Carter and Nancy Carter: Love. Them. So. Much. |

IMO, him and Sharon were the best thing by an absolute mile. I also liked Stan a lot.

There were only 2 stars this week and it was Johnny and Sharon. Phil & Shirley's performances were great but I didn't count them as "stars of the week".

This week i've loved:
Nancy and Mick Carter Their chicken eating scene made me laugh, especially when Mick said Nancy would be 'ponying" for England (pony and trap=crap) and Mick was funny when he likened that footie player to a horse. He was great also when he mediated between Johnny and Linda. Shirley Carter and Phil Mitchell Great scenes between these two this week, I thought that there was going to be a 'bedtime' on a couple of occasions, they have such great chemistry and seem good mates. But star of the week goes to...... Stan Carter! I don't know how he knew about what Dean was up to but it's clear there's no fooling him and he was excellent with Dean, never getting angry once although he had every right to be! Honourable mentions to: Johnny Carter It was brave of him to come clean about what really happened at the bar instead of letting people believe he was a hero when he hid upstairs. Ian Beale He was great with Lexi even though he wouldn't admit it and I feel sorry that he's got involved with that Rainie bitch. |
