America will be very relieved that Ghana failed to win. Had they done so, they would have needed to get something from their final game against Germany even if they had beaten Portugal.

Now they know that if they beat Portugal, they are through regardless of what happens in their final game.

Ghana are easily the best team from Africa. Fantastic performance in a fantastic game. Sorry Ivory Coast, but it will take some performance to beat that.

Group G is alive and kicking. USA will top the group if they win tomorrow and Ghana still have Portugal to play!

And Germany were just.....Germany. You just can't write them off.

I could have watched another 30 minutes of that, shame it wasn't a knockout match with extra time.

The only second rate team which has performed to expectations is England.

I though 98 was just as good, but people are always biased towards the present, e.g. Rooney's overhead was voted the greatest premiership goal, until he scores another overhead and then that gets voted the best.

By CR maybe, running rings around England.

Can you really see England playing such entertaining football as Ghana have just done?

Really? I find people seem to be biased towards the past more often than not. Nostalgia has a peculiar effect on people's memories.

Yup, this is true and people often tend to remember the past as better than it really was.

2-2 a fair result though.

Does anyone know what the goal tally stands at now?”

82 goals so far (compared with 53 at this stage in 2010). It really has been a fantastic tournament.

What a great game. I would have liked to see Ghana win, they would have if they were a bit clinical.

Who is this guy Jason Mohamed is talking to ........ he's hardly inspiring!!

Glad to see the BBC have the dream team in force tonight Hansen, Henri, Seedorf and Lineker.

I don't find that the case most people rubbish football pre premiership. Most people often rubbish music prior to the year 2000, saying it was cheesy etc.

It's certainly the best one SINCE 1998.

Seeing as I missed a lot of 98 this one is better imo but what I saw of 1998 was brilliant.

Ghana were far better against Germany though, if they play like that against Portugal they can go through.

I've never met anyone like that! Everyone I've come across talks about how decadent society is nowadays compared to "the olden days", and how they don't make music/films/TV/people like they did in the decade of whenever the aggrieved person grew up.

You've never seen or heard of Danny Murphy before?

He's been there since the start of the tournament and has been a PL players for years.

I don't find that at all, people often say how commercial and manufactured music is now, this is in my experience.

That I agree with, its certainly the best 21st century WC. Some ones in the 20th century were pretty good so we'll see how it holds up when it finishes.

The thing is though we've played only 28 games out of the 64. We're still not half way through yet!
