I don't find that the case most people rubbish football pre premiership. Most people often rubbish music prior to the year 2000, saying it was cheesy etc.

You've never seen or heard of Danny Murphy before?
He's been there since the start of the tournament and has been a PL players for years. I have wondered what the BBc saw in him to hire him. ![]()

Ghana were far better against Germany though, if they play like that against Portugal they can go through.

Ghana were fantastic - Germany couldn't really handle their pace in particular - although that seems the story for many European defences in this tournament. I don't know why Low is persisting with Lahm in midfield; kept on losing the ball far too often - he really needs to go back to RB. I think Low should have taken another DM rather than Mustafi; who looks a bit lacklustre - given Germany's defensive midfield crisis it would have made sense to take Sven Bender instead. Looking back of Ghana-USA, Ghana really were unlucky in that match - I'd fancy them to beat Portugal though, who seem to have a million and one injuries not in the least with Ronaldo - who perhaps isn't really fit to be the tournament.
Germany's positives are that Klose has still got it - even at 36. Great player. Ozil also was pretty decent today, and Kroos had a fantastic game. Still all to play for in Group G. |

If my facebook news feed is anything to go by, 50% of the German public are now on diazepam. The other 50% chose valerian. Quote:

He has a cut on the eyebrow, according to Löw. Probably won't need stitches. ![]() It's a very open WC - especially with quite a lot of European sides having such clear defensive deficiencies, and the South-American teams that we'd see in this WC as favourites (Brazil & Argentina) not looking that impressive at all, it's a very open WC I'd argue with no real clear favourite, and very much all to play for. I wouldn't be surprised to see an 'underdog' South American side such as Chile, Colombia, and at a stretch Uruguay win this WC. |

Seems like their is a clear agenda to get European teams out at any cost!
That's Germany, Italy, England and Netherlands been made to play in microwave conditions at ridiculous times. |

Really? Tbh their situation isn't that bad - they could be England (!!!!!!), Spain, or even Italy. Germany also have a (recent) history of losing their second group game, so perhaps a draw is an improvement for them
.Given the heat, I guess that game was more damaging later on ... |

We lost the second game against Serbia in 2010, which is probably why the mood is currently still good. |

Wasn't electronic rather big in the 80s and even the late 70s? Synthpop and all that.
![]() Yeah but then, for example, you had some like Morrisey, who, as far as i know, never did a song like Dizzee Rascals Bonkers

They looked just as knackered as Germany at the end of the match
Maybe Germany has the better sport pysiologists but I doubt there is no physiological evolutionary advantage of people that live in hot conditions since generations. But obviously the skinny build of some German players like Müller will lead to a better volume|surface ratio that could give them a slight edge. |

Heres my brief video of where I ended up watching the game (a pub in Kilburn)...
I got in the pub at half time, bought a pint, and setled down to watch alongside some Ghana supporting folk... And then the Karaoke started... This was one highlight... Ghana vs Germany 2-2: http://youtu.be/6JFcbHnOTfs |

It's not just about tiredness in the moment but also about speed of recovery. Some page in German stated that Löw tried to avoid exactly an exhausting game like this.

But obviously the skinny build of some German players like Müller will lead to a better volume|surface ratio that could give them a slight edge. Backfired spectacularly. Özil posted this on twitter: "what an intense match - hardly any power to write something ... #GER #GHA #DFBTeam #WorldCup #Brasil2014" And Hummels, when asked about the thigh injury he got in the Portugal game, last night said something along the lines of "my thigh is currently the only thing not hurting in my body". They are now all off to rehab. Khedira and Boateng both got injuries and are in doubt for the USA match. Müller did get 5 stitches after all, but he seems fit otherwise. The only one who seems like he could play another game today is old man Klose... |

Yes, Löw said that in the post-match interview. He was asked why Germany didn't play like their usual self in the first half, whether it was the heat or whether it was tactics. It seems it was the latter, Löw said the plan was to let Ghana run and exhaust themselves, sneak a goal past them and then defend the lead - with minimal physical effort to avoid exhaustion in the heat.
