I was about to comment about how the American long shots have been dire. If the momentum swings now, this game is theirs for the taking.
Portugal isn't letting up though, missed goals or not, and time for US to keep moving to make that happen for them

If it stays draw Portugal would probably be out as they would unlikely to make up the goal difference

Yes, they'd have to thrash Ghana to have any chance of going through - and even if they did they'd still go out if Germany and USA drew.

Gotta say the "USA" chant is one of the most nauseating sounds in sport. Just sounds incredibly obnoxious.

Yep, Portugal must go all out otherwise they are out!! This is starting to look like the Ghana game. Ghana swarmed forward at 1-1 but the US held out and then hit back.

When's the last time Portugal had a properly quality centre forward? (I wouldn't include Ronaldo as an out and out CF btw.)
Nuno Gomes was alright in his day.

If Portugal lose this then surely Ronaldo shouldn't play the 3rd game?

Honestly I'm not sure he should play regardless of this result.

Refs should be booking people for these crap dives. USA too hemmed in at the back. They need a way out of defence.

Looking at that clear dive from Nani brings to me how reluctant referees have been to book players for diving at this World Cup - in fact, I can't remember a single instance.

Which is exactly what would probably happen Germany a tame draw would win the group and USA progress.

This is a poor portugese side

Read earlier that if this is a draw then a draw for the USA against Germany would send them both through, I wouldn't bet against that happening in that instance.

Nor can I.

Yet a 50/50 ball and the yank gets booked!....

I'll look forward to the next Engurland chant because that sounds so much better. (Though I realize I'll have quite a long wait for it).

Never thought Nuno Gomes or Pauleta were particularly prolific. Pauleta had a decent record for Portugal I suppose.
