You've taken that particular throw away comment well. Not sure if my home country not qualifying makes a chant any better or worse though.

US with another goal, and had a clear shot too!

US taking the chances now

See what I mean re the 2nd half, and the US have proved it.

Could they dig out a draw against Germany and win the group, that would shake the draw up

Mentioning how disorganised the Portuguese defence has been all night and that goal illustrated it perfectly - the left back was AGAIN out of position, enabling the USA man to put in the cross and the centre back was the only man playing Dempsey onside.

What a comeback from 1-0 down to 2-1 up.

Bye bye Ghana as well, barring an unlikely swing in goal difference in the final games.

What a save.. regardless of the offside.. what a save. Tim Howard has played a blinder tonight.

They've no one covering the wings either. To be fair, their two first choice left backs are injured.

I wonder whether the likes of Bradley, Beckerman and Besler could go to English clubs as well given how well they've performed in both games.

They've been asking for punishment all night, and they deserve it.

This is a very, very average Portugal team.

Ah, see it was time for Dempsey to come off!! Dempsey's taken too much punishment in this tournament which is why they needed their other talisman, Donovan.

Yep, it's alright getting excited over the usual names but I've enjoyed him and Tim Cahill as much as anybody in this tournament. Similar players, similar age, similar heroics

Edit - Clint Dempsey is only 31??? Why did I think he was 34/35

Yes they would need to beat Portugal by about three and hope USA beat Germany by two to knock the Germans out
