England saved their worst till last, ironic since they managed to hold on to a draw and gain just the one point. I do like Roy Hodgson but even I couldn't stomach how upbeat he looked when the game ended.

Listening to the England player talking after the match ....... what a pathetic bunch of wimps they are!
All this 'gutted'..... 'disappointed' ........ 'we had to lift ourselves', and all the sad faces. What was the problem today that they could not go out onto the pitch today, have a blast, show their skills, knock the ball about, create a bit of great football, with no pressure whatsoever on the result. They will never have a better chance to shine on the world stage, without the dreaded thought that one mistake would cost them a place in the next round. Surely under the circumstances they had a chance to play open football ....... lets be honest the feeling back home could not get any worse after the first two matches, however with the performance today they did just take it down a few notches!! I do feel sorry for Roy Hodgson, he's a decent man who looks punch drunk with disappointment, but trying his best to put a positive spin on his players, which really they do not deserve.

We scored 2 goals though.

Going out on such a limp performance. Hodgson saying we played well, we just couldn't get that winning goal. Yeah roy hence the reason we're going home. To sum up rooney's world cup, 1 assist 1 goal.

..and now that Japan and Greece have played their third games, they have matched England's tally and are off the list!
Weren't Australia the lowest ranked team in the tournament? |

I knew instantly how yesterday's match was going to turn out whilst watching the playing on the pitch of the national anthems. The England players showed absolutely no spirit or pride.

Our goalie was ok last night, more aggressive than Hart, looks like he's he's used to playing with dodgy defenders. Sturidge really needs to learn how to score, when he gets a chance.
But on the whole a pretty dire game, some positives, but we just lack any threat in the last 3rd of the pitch. We don't seem to make the opposition scared when we enter their area. We seem to lack an aggressive attacking midfielder, who will run the ball into the final zone and either shoot or lay off a decent pass. |

I've just noticed that out of all the group leaders, Brazil, Argentina, Germany, France, Columbia and Holland, Costa Rica have let in the least amount of goals. Only one goal has been put past them.
That is some achievement in itself. Especially as it was a very hard group to get out of. |

With Russia still to play it looks like the list could be down to just Cameroon, Honduras and Iran.
![]() The FA has set us the goal of winning the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, a country where the weather makes what they're experiencing in Brazil look like early March in Aberdeen. Methinks Greg ought to go back to running tv channels - one with the word "fantasy" in it seems appropriate. I wonder how many other aspiring football nations governing bodies are headed up by former tv execs who know diidly squat about the sport? |

Costa Rica have been superb in defence 1 one goal in 3 games, and that was the very first game and a penalty.
