Hope England fly back, scurry away, not give hollow sorry interviews

I hope England player's, manager, etc arrive back from Brazil and scurry away and not give shallow 'sorry' interviews, I for one will not believe a word. When other sport's people like Murrey lost Wimbledon in the past, you could see he was disappointed, but it not the case for our over paid so called football stars.

One instant, Southgate year's ago missed a World Cup penalty, then after did a pizza advert with a bag on his head, mocking the miss, and that just about said it all, and it's still the same attitude.

That was the one with other penalty shoot out missers Pearce and Waddle.
If they recreated that advert today they would also have the following to pick from:

Ince
Batty
Beckham
Vassell
Lampard
Gerrard
Carragher
Young
Cole

They might need one of these though:

(And another just for Lampard)

Southgate missed a Euro '96 penalty but I agree with your point.

Do you? Well if that happens I look forward to your "They won't even apologise" thread.

Followed by 'I hope they don't apologise for not apologising'

I wonder if people are saying similar things about the English Rugby Union side, after three successive defeats, which at this stage is worse than the England World Cup performance, seeing as they have only lost two matches in a row.

Where are the threads asking for them to apologise, or attacking their performances??

They're non-existent because the World Cup overshadows Rugby Union internationals.

Yep, I still can't get that shot of Southgate running away in celebration after he missed that penalty, costing England a place in their home Euro final...

Just give it a rest will you?

Nonsensical comparison.

Wayne Rooney earns more in a week than many England fans earn in a lifetime - I would rather not hear apologies thank you.

Not really, both sides lost, yet we hear nothing (or not much about) how any of the Union players should apologise etc, etc, shame that it is all lumped on the male footballers.

I would prefer it if the media don't feel they have to keep shoving a microphone or a notepad into Roy Hodgson and the players' faces, in order to get some pointless comments that achieve nothing.

I'm sure that the players and Roy Hodgson would prefer to not encounter these reporters and journalists, as well as us getting tired of hearing them.

Not quite.

Even at minimum wage someone can earn over £535,000

I do tend to agree as they actually did pretty well away to the World Champions losing the first two tests by a total of 6 points.

Maybe the cricketers last winter is a better example - think they along with the press really did expect to turn up and win without having to break sweat..

If anything most of the press were moaning about how nasty the Aussies were daring to speak ill of our darlings.

I was thinking if a footballer walked out of the squad like Trott did (he did have valid reasons) then I wonder what the reaction would have been..

Matt Lamb is right - any interviews won't change anything and just lead to more criticism.

We weren't rubbish but vital mistakes in both areas cost us.

I am beginning to think that the object of all these stupid threads is simply to make me brain dead from reading them all.
