Cheapest Windows Phone with a decent screen?
I had a Lumia 820, left for a Moto G mainly for the fact I got fed up with the low resolution screen. I really liked Windows Phone and want to go back but only if I can get something with a decent screen at a decent price. Having a quick look it seems there are plenty of cheap Nokia's but all with crap resolution or have I missed something? Seems I might be better getting a second hand L920

The HTC Windows Phone 8X has a great 720P screen, it's pretty cheap now if you look about.

Hi-res screen phones are premium. L920 is your best bet, also check out HTC 8X, Samsung Ativ S. All older phones. I'd go for Lumia out of these 3.

I got my Ativ S for £140 in February. It ot the 8X make good cheap alternatives to the L920 if you find them.
You are right about some of the Nokia phones, the L625 has a shockingly bad screen. |

Are people recommending models based on real life experience or purely on what the spec sheet says?

I think the screen is the sticking point in a lot of these cheap Windows Phones, If Motorola can do it, surly Nokia etc can do it.

They have to save on something, their devices are all very well built, so it is the screen that suffer in this. If you want a HD screen cheaply the way to go is to get an old-ish premium WP phone. It will get the WP8.1 update, but it may not support some new features, because of the hardware.

yes but did you read the OP? why would you recommend a phone which is worse for the persons needs?
Let the OP decide if they want the advice rather than telling other people what to advise. |

Because it is cheap and the video resolution is OK.

The OP said they were fed up with the lumia 820 due to low resolution screen, the phone you recommend is the same, with the rest of the specs much worse. How is that of any help?

The video shows all 3 phones playing videos. So the OP can see if they are any good in comparison. |

A lot of the comments were defending the W1.

I disagree, I have a 625 and fine the screen to be fine. Overall a very good phone for the price.
