As the title states, there will be a press conference at 18:00. No doubt Roy will be clutching at more straws than a masturbating scarecrow.

Theres a pretty large straw to clutch at imho. The England performance looked promising. Ok the second game wasn't great but at least we attacked and at least we have a young team. I fancy our chances of going quite far in Euro 2016.

It will be the usual drivel.

"Well of course we're disappointed..."

"I thought we played well but in the end we were unlucky..."

"We were unlucky..."

"But in the end we were unlucky..."

"We did our best to come back into the game, but at the end we were unlucky..."

"Luck just wasn't on our side on the day..."

"But then in the end, we were just unlucky..."

Suarez 2nd was apparently a freak occurrence, rather than a defensive cock up.

Gives the squad players a go though - makes sense.

Yup give as many of the players a run out at a World Cup as possible so they at least have some experience of a major event even if the result doesn't have as much pressure. It makes sense.

Just saw it. For the record, there was no apology from Rooney, hollow or otherwise.

Nor should there have been. Rooney wasn't even there today.

It sure does. With England not making the knockout stage the often mentioned "taking of players along for the experience" actually makes sense for once, normally the experience they gain is how to sit on the bench for a few games, something they would have already mastered at their own clubs by now.

Think Lampard should get his swansong, he probably won't be at another major tournament again.

No player deserves a swansong, especially not someone like Lampard. Maybe a World Cup legend like Kloser, who also has a chance of making a difference. Play the young boys, don't waste a space on Lampard so he can get some grand goodbye.

'Someone like Lampard'?! In his first international tournament he scored 3 in 4 and was named in the team of the tournament. He was our top scorer in WC 2006 qualifying. He is currently our highest scoring midfielder. He has 8 more goals than Gerrard in 8 fewer appearances. In my opinion the guy seems to be criminally underrated by almost anyone other than Chelsea fans, although I am not one.

I hope he plays.

ETA:

He's the captain tomorrow
Glad to hear it.

Why don't they have the press conference on Wednesday after we get hammered by Costa Rica 4:0!

Why even bring Gerrard into it, of course he scored more goals, Gerrard was always played out of position to accommodate Lampard

Perhaps the same reason you ignored everything else apart from the comment about Gerrard.

Did anyone read Tony "scouser" Evans, the Times Football Editor at the weekend & his one sided attack on Roy Hodgson?

How can the Times employ this idiot? He should struggle to get a job in my local rag never mind the Times!!

If I was an England player who hadn't played yet, not sure I'd want any part in this dismal showing by the team, at least I could look back and say "well I didn't play, so you can't blame me".

Yes, that sort of attitude is just what the England team needs right now *sarcasm*.
