If I was an England player who hadn't played yet, not sure I'd want any part in this dismal showing by the team, at least I could look back and say "well I didn't play, so you can't blame me".
Or maybe the players that didn't play could show what England were missing in the first two games as opposed to the defeatist attitude above.

^^Sarcasm it's the truth, I've said all along, after the warms ups I mentioned the dismal showing, only to be told "oh don't worry, they'll be better in the WC, look at Brazil they got boo'd at half time etc etc" Until we can get it into our heads that the only thing that matters is winning, then we'll always be an "also ran"

'Someone like Lampard'?! In his first international tournament he scored 3 in 4 and was named in the team of the tournament. He was our top scorer in WC 2006 qualifying. He is currently our highest scoring midfielder. He has 8 more goals than Gerrard in 8 fewer appearances. In my opinion the guy seems to be criminally underrated by almost anyone other than Chelsea fans, although I am not one.

I hope he plays.

ETA:

Glad to hear it.
Good post
Why even bring Gerrard into it, of course he scored more goals, Gerrard was always played out of position to accommodate Lampard
That's hardly his fault. What's he supposed to do.
He's been one of the best English midfielders throughout his career and has been picked for the England starting line up.
Is he supposed to say "Gee, thanks boss, I know i've been one of the best midfielders in the PL and i've scored lots of goals and you've picked me in the starting line up but I think you should leave me out so StevieG might have a better game."

It's up to the manager to pick the team and if Gerrard and Lampard weren't working then it's up the manager to change it.
Same with any position.

Trouble is that England managers seem to want to pick all the best players but not the best team.

Are you sure you didn't play for Spurs when Harry was in charge?
