Russia are on 1 point already so any win would see them above Algeria.

There's the third for Algeria!
Total cruise control, and again, it could not be more deserved as they're playing some pretty good stuff. |

Slimani again!
Goal and assist, that's upped his price.

South Koreans look amateurish.
Simply damage limitation now for SK, they have no chance of bringing this game back.... |

Another lovely finish, but again awful defending.
Algeria rampant! (never thought I'd say that at this World Cup!) |

Its coming up to 4am in South Korea, and their fans are watching this back home.
They might as well go back to bed!

No Asian team has won a game at this World Cup in the first 2 rounds of group games.

Forget African teams, what's happened to the Far Eastern teams?

Meanwhile, in North Korea:
![]() ![]() ![]() Great finishing by Algeria. We could be looking at a trio of African teams in the next round. |

Just switched it on.
3-0 at half time? At this rate they might get 6 or 7. |

Half time scoreline a totally accurate reflection of the gulf between the two sides.
Impressed with Algeria in that half and impressed with them in this World Cup in general; they're composed in possession, they get into good areas going forward and create good chances - it's just the finishing which lets them down and was partially to blame for the Belgium defeat. Also, unlike the majority of the African teams, they actually try and attack throughout the game rather than playing mostly in their defensive third and trying to catch their opponents out on the counter. On that basis - and providing they play sensibly against Russia and don't go too gung-ho - I fully expect them to go through with Belgium. Interestingly, if they do get through the group as runners up, the likelihood is they'd have a second round tie against Germany - which would be a repeat of the famous match in 1982 which Algeria won 2-1. |

Korea and Japan usually play pretty decent attacking football but they have been absolutely shite at this World Cup.
Japan couldn't even beat a 10-man Greece. |

Terrific half from Algeria, helped though by some poor Korean defending.

Algeria: 11 goal attempts
South Korea: 0 goal attempts. That lead is truly deserved. |

It turns out South Korea only qualified for the World Cup on goal difference....edging out Uzbekistan.
