I can't help but feel every time i hear Jon Culshaw 'Singing' he's just doing another impression.

At the moment he's trying to do Matt Munro singing 'From Russia with Love'.

I know what you mean but he's coming across as a really nice genuine guy.

If you think about it, as he is a talented impersonator/impressionist he could have went in and "mimicked" the voice of whomever, but I think that he deserves some credit for attempting it as himself.

I agree, he does seem to be a nice genuine person

Yeah listening to him today he does come across as a nice genuine guy.

That's what i enjoy about the FA live streaming you get to discover things about the contestants, more than can be said for Pop Idol or X factor!

Sounds like he is doing an impression of.... someone very nasal!

I agree he comes across as warm and genuine,on a one to one with everyone.

But he also seems very uncomfortable and edgy at times, (more in the group situations)
i've been trying to put my finger on it all afternoon.
It seems more than just nerves, its like the whole thing is really getting to him.

I hope he puts in a good performance tonight , and manages to settle a bit.

I thought that too. He's much better when he is being someone else but he's still getting my vote!

John is a really nice guy and is renowned as the UK's best impressionist. He definately has improved and i think he deserves a place in the top three personally as FA is all about imporving peoples voices however please kick out that bloody Gina that song is wonderful and she bloody wrecked it i had to turn my sound down !!!!!

I don't understand why the judges are being so harsh with him. He was really good tonight.

He did sound a bit like tony blair though.

If someone had told me after Saturday that Jon Culshaw could sing like he did Thursday, I would have told them they were mad.

Mind you, his "Robbie" face-pulling had Mrs AgingRocker and I in stitches and we're glad he stayed so we could see this improvement.

He's been a big surprise to me. I expected him to be very confident maybe even cocky but he couldnt be more different. Quite shy infact.

He hasnt tried to use his impersonations to win the public over which lets be honest must be a temptation. At times he looks like he'd love to drop into character but resists. I suspect thats why he's quiter than he woudl be normally.

Lovely guy.

I was thinking that after watching him practise with Kevin but I can't help but wish he would perform a bit more. I was looking forward to him making me laugh - on the live feed.
He's still been getting my votes though!

Loved it! And I also thought he was fantastic compared to the first night.

What a disgrace tonight (Friday). How long can the judges keep saving Gina? They may find her funny, but I am not sure that I can take the assault on my earoles much longer!

Jon, on the other hand, not only found a voice, but showed a really sharp "Indie/Rock" voice that, put against Saturday, and even Wednesday, was a revelation. The guy was just getting better and better.

Exactly. I hadn't been expecting much from him, but he proved me wrong. Yet just when he's becoming good, off he goes.

And Reggie, GIna, and Chris all stay.

Its because Gina is in the same show as Lenny Henry ....

nuff said ...means Richard can keep name dropping

See, this is why I would argue against dropping Carrie & David from the judging panel. They know, better than anyone else, how much a person has improved.
Gina? IMO (and I'm sure I'm in a minority) not funny, not really trying, and a bit too OTT. Flat and dull when trying to sing.
Jon? Terrible, awful, awful, awful on Saturday, but the last two nights he's been so much better - I actually really enjoyed From Russia... As he's an impressionist, I imagine that the reason he improved so significantly was that he actually listened to what he was taught. Is it significant that the vote he got was from Leslie - the trained singer? I would like to think so.

Plus I think he's very funny, and very sweet.

Carrie and DAvid would, where applicable, toe the BBC line - which in this case, would be to keep in Gina who is affiliated to Lenny Henry ....

Jon shouldn't have gone tonight, it should have been Chris

I'm missing Jon and so are the other students and Carrie of all people. Chris should have gone. However after hearing Nick today he must eventually enter the danger zone. Even Gina sounds ok with her new song.

I agree with genieinabottle, John seems really shy most of the time. I am really pissed that he was voted off and I had to watch the BBC 3 show to help me get over it.

I don't think Carrie would have voted him off because she said he was her favourite.

Is dead Ringers coming back to BBC?

Chris clearly should have gone last night. He murdered 'This Love' and doesn't entertain me at all. Jon wasn't great but he is definitely improving and IMO was a darkhorse along with Ade to challenge the girls. Sad to see him go
