Big Brother Australia 2014
Anyone else anticipating the return? No air date as of yet but last year it kicked off in July, so almost there

Very excited, I love BB Australia!
![]() I kind of hope they don't do the Surly thing again, I read that the fishes used for Surly always got ill and died due to being out of their natural environment. If there's truth to this, it doesn't seem right to me. Okay, sorry to put a sudden downer on the thread ! Yeah, I'm looking forward to it!

Surly not? Joking aside, cruelty to fish is a new on on me. Surly or no surly i'm excited to meet the new housemates. Always fascinating and up for a good time.
Last years BBAU started 28th July. Just under 5 weeks away! |

Onto the positives: I love BB Australia's nomination episodes. The points system is great, and many times the nominations are quite surprising. The special nominations room and soundproof pod are brilliant ideas, too. Not to mention BB's strict zero tolerance policy towards weak reasons.

So excited...even more so than I was for our BB! Last year was my first time watching BB Aus and I was not disappointed. Just wonder how they can top Tim as a HM

Just a shame his personality wasn't as hot as his looks towards the end. |

I can't wait for this, especially as our Big Brother is so depressing. Hopefully they have someone as funny as Tim in there

I'm not sure the start is that far off. Sonja Kruger tweeted about being on the Gold Coast and BB AUS retweeted it.

![]() And it hasn't be promoted yet, last year ads were appearing 6 weeks before it started. Alex posted pics of the house few days ago... and that's still looks more a building site. |

Can't wait for this to start. Last year's show was possibly my favourite big brother ever. Bored of our bb already.
I was sure I read a while ago that it was starting on the 7th July so I was a little disappointed reading this thread that it seems to be further off than I thought. In the mean time I'm spending my nights watching the USA and Canada shows! |

Speaking to some Australians on Twitter during the 2013 run, I was amazed how they said they love our show more than their own
And boy do they have the sort of show we are screaming out for, as in more regular updates and production treat the viewers and housemates like grown ups and not like a kindergarten More decent tasks and twists and more importantly original ideas not the same recycled clap trap we get They may not have live feed themselves over there but they sure know how to put on a good spread and make their show x10000000 times more positive than ours |

I gave up watching last years because of the awful HM's especially Tim & Drew. Hopefully this year will be better.

I say the same about all the BB houses, UK, USA and AU one thing I look forward to most is seeing what the new one looks like. AU has had beautiful houses the last two series I think I like theirs the best out of all of them.
And am hoping there isn't another JadEd this year. I don't think I could stomach it.

I've only watched two series so far but I'm impressed with the way they handle the nominations. BBUK nominations seem to be going to pot recently, so many overly complicated twists and it seems like the producers can barely be bothered with them despite them being a very important part of the show that viewers really want to see.
Feels like BBAus really takes them seriously. With a different nomination superpower and holder each week there's a risk of it being as messy and complicated as BBUK handles their twists nowadays but BBAus seem to know what they are doing and they just get on with it. For the most part, their twists seem to turn out well. I didn't really enjoy BB9 that much, it descended into an overly dominating group of unlikeable people and we witnessed some very poor treatment that touched upon bullying. Very uncomfortable. I was glad when that series was over, I ended up disliking everyone at one point. I really enjoyed BB10 though. I think I liked almost everyone. The few I didn't like were usually because I found them boring in comparison to others, rather than hating their guts. |

I found that while there was HM's you weren't particularly fond of, they was never bad enough to detest like the HM's we get on our version. Tahan was like a saint compared to the girls in our show this year! All the Aus HM's were likeable in some way or another last year...apart from maybe Tully & Ed
