Fair enough, red card.

Nasty stamp, correct decision.

What was he thinking. Might cost Italy a place in the next round.

Studs up from Marchisio earns him the red.

Italy will now be even tougher to break down. Uruguay must go for it, though.

Got it wrong for me but not surprised at all, referee's been poor throughout.

How idiotic to put in a challenge like that when the referee is looking directly at it from a yard away.

Italy were completely comfortable up to that point but if that sending off leads to a defeat, Marchisio should have more than a few strips torn off him by Prandelli.

After seeing the reply it's red all day long it was a leg breaker.

Who is the commentator on the Italy game? He's seen the replay and he's STILL saying it was a questionable red! The man's an idiot.

Totally agree. Can't understand why anyone would think otherwise. Studs up, forcefully pushed against just below the knee; totally deliberate. I suppose it was "fortunate" that the referee was as near as he was to make that decision.

Great save by Buffon!

Uruguay just beginning to assert themselves now.

Good save Buffon.

Italy won't be a great loss entertainment-wise if they do go out. Love him or hate him, Suarez deserves an extended stay on this stage.

Diagonal balls into the box is useless when you've got Suarez and Cavani against Buffon, Chiellini etc.

I agree with the commentator, you have to admire the way Italy are closing out this game as they've done so often over so many years.

It's particularly impressive when you compare it to England's inability to do the same thing in their previous two matches.

Did Suarez just try to headbutt Chiellini just then?

Bite him

Was that Suarez biting again?!

Deserves an extended stay? Based on what exactly? Uruguay have also been by far the biggest bore in this group.

Suarez just getting away with a blatant red too, the guy is comical.
O'Neill

Disgraceful, he'll never learn.
