Think Boubacar Barry missed a trick coming that far off his line when the kick was taken.
I had a bit of a shot at Samaras earlier but full credit to him, that took SOME bottle. That's it! Greece go through! What else is going to happen in this World Cup? |

Greece v Costa Rica must be one of the most unlikely knockout games in a World Cup ever.

I wanted IC to win, but that move they did was stupid, giving Greece the chance they needed. Was an excellent goal.

Greece will lose the next game they play, given how terrible they've been up to now. Furious with that player from Cote D'ivoire.

Only the World Cup is capable of such drama.
If that was a Hollywood script, the movie studios would just laugh at it. |

Ivory Coast were poor.
Greece hit the post and bar, I actually think they deserved it. |

Ridiculous over-acting by that Greek to secure the 'penalty'.

I don't care. I wanted Ivory Coast through and Greece out. It's like when stinking Portugal got that last minute goat against USA the other night.
![]() I wanted them through too but if it's a fair shout then I'll go along with it as that's the game. It's a good job us lot are not refs isn't it

Got to hand it to the Greeks, they don't have any players of real world class quality but they're so effective as a team and they just get the job done.
A lot of that is down to the defence, who are so discliplined and committed and put so much effort into keeping their shape, pressing, running back to cover and, most importantly tackling and tonight - other than the goal - the Ivory Coast were just restricted to half chances. However, they were far better in attack tonight than in either of their two previous games and right as I type that, they show Karagounis's wonderful effort which is arguably the closest we've seen to a 30-yard rocket in this World Cup. Ivory Coast were poor tonight for the same reasons they've been poor all this World Cup, lacking in cutting edge and poor in front of goal, and in some way they're the exact opposite of Greece - full of quality players but unable to link coherently as a team. |

Really disappointed with the Ivory Coast again. Always flatter to deceive.
Costa Rica v Greece in the Last 16 - crikey. |
