His manager is defending him.
Of course he is, that's his meal ticket.

I'll have to start watching South American football to see all this biting that goes on all the time

They have teeth brushing time, instead of injury time

Can see Suarez appearing in funny EE ads with Kevin BACON.

He is a no brainer.

Good news for Liverpool anyway, probably too toxic for a move to Spain now.
I don't think they'll care. All they'll see is goals.

He's a very nice man who was giving his opponent an affectionate kiss which went horribly wrong.

Not quite the same as the 'he accidentally swallowed his opponent's shoulder while trying to headbutt him' theory, but it makes for a sweeter fairy tale for the kids. Of course he blummin' well bit him.

So, if he Is unhinged, shouldn't we be more sympathetic?
A flawed genius?
Certainly not! This is the third time he has done this so he should be having treatment if he is truly unhinged not let loose on a football pitch to bite at will.
Being a flawed genius (if that is what he is) does not give you carte blanche to behave just as you like.

I woldn't say he bit him he more gnawed on his shoulder.
H'es everything that's wrong in football and his manager is an idiot. I think a reasonable ban would be banned for the rest of WC and banned from the next Copa America and all International matches in between.

I've only seen the angle from behind, several times, which is why I wondered. Why not show the conclusive footage.
I mean throwing an elbow could still mean the shoulder impacting his mouth.
Not saying that is the case. As I said just playing DA.
Fantasy Devil's Advocate though.

I think he should be banned from all forms of football for life. It's happened on two previous occasions and he doesn't seem to have changed. Yes he's a great player, but how much does one's genius have to be until one's dark side eclipses it?

Do you think ? Providing there isn't some ridiculously out of character FIFA crackdown I'd expect the Spanish clubs won't care and Suarez to say he's being picked in again by the British media who are forcing him out , which the Uruguay manager has in fact already said .

It may even 'bite' Liverpool financially if he agitates for a move , who knows but all very entertaining as an outsider .

I'd ban him for life. He's utterly despicable.

That might be the funniest thing I've ever read on here.

Congrats

In the Columbia v Japan game a Japanese player got an elbow to the nose and didn't go down like Suarez did.

Yes gnawed - he bites like one of those terrier dogs that sinks its teeth to hang on, rather than a snap or nip, it was the same with Ivanovic.

Apparently only todays Mexican ref can decide if to ban Luis now and if says no bite FIFA wont overrule him. ( Should refs with a main language of one of the teams but not the other be able to ref a game because there must be a higher likelihood of bias.)

Would the ref risk embarrassment of admitting to a mistake.
I can see FIFA pressuring him to not rock the boat.

Wouldn't not banning him rock the boat further outside of Uruguay and increase hatred of Fifa further.
