I doubt FIFA care about the scandal. Look how they act over Qatar.

Some laughable denials coming from Urugauy players and managment.

I saw a tweet earlier saying Italy's FA would withdraw from FIFA if he was not banned.

So much for having turned over a new leaf last season, those screws are clearly as loose as ever

not sure if fifa follow the same rules for retrospective action as the EPL does but afaik if the referee says he saw the incident and decided it needed no action then they cant take retrospective action using video evidence

if the referee says he didn't see it then they can

I can see FIFA pressuring him to not rock the boat.”

It's not a question of 'admitting to a mistake'. He simply didn't see the incident.

Surely that can't be right! (I'm not saying you're wrong, just can't believe that is the case)

That's the clearest view yet! Clearly that's teeth-to-shoulder and not the other way around. It's utterly bizarre stuff.

Suarez should not be allowed back on a football pitch until he has been assessed and received appropriate psychiatric treatment.

It will be a farce if he isn't thrown out of the tournament and given a lengthy ban, but this is FIFA we are talking about. A few quid in Blatter's bank account and Italy will probably be banned from the World Cup for life for being unsportsmanlike and Suarez will win a fair play award.

This World Cup has had just about everything. What a memorable tournament this is turning out to be.

Everytime I watch it I just can't believe he would do it again, what triggers it something is wrong in his head.

They have to come down hard on him this time.

Yep, even the crooked bastards at FIFA can't fail to act based on evidence like that... can they?

He goes at him with his mouth wide open and sort of momentarily misses the shoulder on his first attempt and has another go!

He's a fabulously talented footballer but clearly psychologically unbalanced in some way. And the 3rd time now, he seriously needs help.

Why doesn't the Italian defender report it to the police? Don't tell me a football pitch is beyond the law.....if Suarez had bit into a crucial neck vein he could possibly have killed the Italian, and he wouldn't get away with that??

Police matter, courts, verdict, punishment if guilty.

Football pitch, street, same thing. I a boxing ring you have two adults who consent to beat each other to a pulp. In a penalty box I'd be surprised if there was consent to have your shoulder bitten.

I've been tweeting Fifa all night. I figure I can't be the only one.

Then you have to take tackles like the red card in the same game, that leg breaker no attempt at the ball.

Tackling is a part of the game, even bad ones - but I fully agree that deliberately malicious ones should be punished harshly.

Biting is a completely different matter. It is nothing to do with the game. The man has serious issues and should not be permitted to play again until they are addressed.

I don't get how football is above the law, if I bit my colleague she would have every right to call the police, just after her hubby twatted me

What would happen, if a player reported to a policeman during a game a crime he thinks has been committed on the pitch?

agree 100%

even with dodgy tackles there is always the issue of proving intent to do harm rather than just being clumsy or mis-timed

with a bite I don't think there can be any doubt about the intent

I think they will. The incident has made headlines around the world, and there's no "incentive" for FIFA to try to ignore it. In fact, Blatter knows he's under pressure, and this is a chance to take the moral high ground without making a dent in his bank balance.
A lot of people don't seem to understand FIFA's powers. It's unlikely to happen, but they could ban Suarez from any football played under their auspices. As the Mirror sports writer says..
"Suarez is certain to face a lengthy ban imposed by FIFA, but Liverpool are at the mercy of a decision on whether it covers just international football or club matches, too.
The game's world governing body have the power to extend any ban to all football, and Liverpool will wait until they get the full facts and FIFA hand out their judgement before they move to officially condemn the player's actions."
