Roberto Martinez says Suarez needs psychiatric help:

Martinez said: “There is no doubting the quality and talent that he has. But the behaviour – I just seriously think that he needs help.”

He added: “He cannot control himself in those moments. He needs help because that’s not acceptable on a football pitch.”

I think they will. The incident has made headlines around the world, and there's no "incentive" for FIFA to try to ignore it. In fact, Blatter knows he's under pressure, and this is a chance to take the moral high ground without making a dent in his bank balance.
A lot of people don't seem to understand FIFA's powers. It's unlikely to happen, but they could ban Suarez from any football played under their auspices. As the Mirror sports writer says..
"Suarez is certain to face a lengthy ban imposed by FIFA, but Liverpool are at the mercy of a decision on whether it covers just international football or club matches, too.
The game's world governing body have the power to extend any ban to all football, and Liverpool will wait until they get the full facts and FIFA hand out their judgement before they move to officially condemn the player's actions."
Hilarious wishful thinking by Man U and Chelsea fans.

I was watching the World Cup tonight on French tv and it didn`t even get a mention. It was just another indecent in an intriguing match won by the underdogs Uruguay.

Did the BBC even comment on Uruguay`s win?

I think the guy is comedy gold. After the 'alleged' bite he falls to the ground feigning an 'elbow to the head' injury and then he gets up and pretends he was whacked in the teeth. It was so funny to watch. What a performance. I thought his act was genuinely funny although he's clearly got a few mental problems or he's a vampire and needs blood to keep himself alive! He loves a bite on human flesh. Tasty!

What's all the fuss about ?

They have biting , eye gauging , spearing someone head first into the ground and worse in virtually every rugby match but nobody gets banned or worse ...

Er....this isn't about rugby, it's a different sport. You might as well say they're allowed to hit each other in boxing.

Ofcourse they did. They showed highlights of the match before their live match.

As have been stated in the thread the incident has been reported in USA, Australia, Italy, India and probably many more places.

Nobody gives a sh/it outside England, who hate him for knocking them out of the World Cup a few days after the tournament started.

I'd imagine his bite is being negatively received around the world, not just England.

What would happen, if a player reported to a policeman during a game a crime he thinks has been committed on the pitch?
You don't need to wonder what would happen. It happened some years ago when Duncan Ferguson was jailed for an assault during a game after headbutting an opposing player.

They must have been a bit slow then, it's all over the French papers now.

Let's face it, biting IS different. Maybe it shouldn't be, is a bite worse than a career threatening challenge ? But the fact remains that biting crosses a line for most civilised people. It's also a fact that this was in the World Cup, watched by hundreds of millions around the world. A PL game against Chelsea was bad enough, but this is global..it won't go away in a hurry.

It's just a football match, nothing that's life or death...

Then it's up to rugby to tidy itself up. Strange excuse.

Obviously they hoped playing against 10 men would be an advantage, but I don't think the "bite" had any real effect on their ability to win on their own merits.

Why doesn't the Italian defender report it to the police? Don't tell me a football pitch is beyond the law.....if Suarez had bit into a crucial neck vein he could possibly have killed the Italian, and he wouldn't get away with that??

Police matter, courts, verdict, punishment if guilty.

Football pitch, street, same thing. I a boxing ring you have two adults who consent to beat each other to a pulp. In a penalty box I'd be surprised if there was consent to have your shoulder bitten.
It has certainly happened in Scottish football - Duncan Ferguson was jailed for headbutting an opposing player:

In 1987 during an old firm game 4 players were charged with breach of the peace after a coming together:
Chris Woods
Terry Butcher
Graham Roberts
& Frank McAvennie

Desperate, desperate stuff. I imagine most Liverpool fans are embarrassed by the minority within their ranks who continue to trot out this type of rubbish in order to try and defend the indefensible.

Apologies if it's already been posted, but I hadn't seen this angle before:

By the way, this thread is brilliant for playing 'Spot the Liverpool Fan' Some of you aren't doing a great job of hiding it.

That appears to be a perfectly reasonable report of the incident. Compare it to the hyperbole and vitriol in today's UK papers.

I think you are the one who is guilty of wishful thinking. The incident has made headlines worldwide, even in Russia and Suarez is facing a very very long ban.

I haven't seen the UK's media response yet to be fair, that was in response that only the UK are interested and that another country didn't even mention the incident.

Indeed it is. Even that the photos of the bite were "photoshopped". What is particularly entertaining about that one is that the first clear photos of the actual bite mark were put out worldwide by the very respected AFP - full name Agence France Presse, HQ in Paris.
