Samsung Galaxy S4 spare battery/charging unit

Has anyone used these and are they any good? Wanting to buy one but I'm put off by (the very few) negative reviews on Amazon saying it isn't genuine, yet it seems to be sold by Amazon. Some of the reviews say that the battery is made in Korea and not China like the original. Anyone got any views on this? Seems like a decent price.

I'd say always by anything from the official samsung store tbh, using anything that's fake could potentially blow up your phone!

I had to buy a new battery for my GS4 last year and have never had any issues with it, it's definetly worth paying for official parts.

Surely Amazon wouldn't sell fakes would they? On the other side, I had one of the swelling batteries from Samsung which came with the phone.

I bought the exact same thing but for my S4 Mini, from Amazon. Perfectly genuine, so wouldn't worry about it and just get one.

Ok cheers. I thought so really, just like to double check these things.

Amazon still sells a fake phone which is known to contain Chinese spyware, so I wouldn't put it past them tbh.

Where? I can't find it.

An article about the phone -
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-27908105

The phone still listed on Amazon -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/STAR-N9599-A...rds=STAR+N9599

I use Amazon often, but they definitely sell some fake items here and there.
I'm just trying to save you the hassle of potentially hurting you're phone, that would be awful!

That's a different phone and isn't sold and dispatched by Amazon

Obviously you've made up your mind on buying this and nothing I say will change it. Ive just heard of a few horror stories with this kind of thing.

Maybe I'm over cautious, but personally I would buy it from the samsung store.

At least come back with evidence to back up your statements? It's got nothing to do with me making my mind up or not. I'm just trying to work out if what you are saying is correct, which it seems it isn't.

They're selling a phone by a company known for installing spyware in their devices, thats all I was trying to say.

I would only buy thing like this from Samsung personally.

No it wasn't. You said -

"Amazon still sells a fake phone which is known to contain Chinese spyware"

You then went on to link a BBC article about the phone and then a link to Amazon of said phone, which wasn't actually sold and dispatched by Amazon. Point being here is, it wasn't the phone you actually thought it was as Amazon don't sell the phone no more.

My Samsung Galaxy S4 had an original battery that started swelling, so even that can go wrong.

I got a genuine one from Samsung for my S3 & it was about £20. It doubled as a stand too I really liked it.

I don't know why you're being so defensive, I was just trying to warn you that sometimes things can go wrong when purchasing them from third parties. Buy at your own risk, I hope it works ok though and doesn't brick your phone.

I'm not being defensive. I'm stating that what you wrote wasn't true

It's the same one I linked to from Amazon. It's from E-bay and more expensive. How is that safer?
