I've said it before, I'll say it again; his "punditry" consists of nothing more than spouting outlandish views to attract attention and shouting those same self views as though that gives them extra weight.
At least he was the only pundit on MOTD before the world cup to have the balls to say that England wouldn't make it out of the group stage, and boy, was he right!

Was it out of perceived wisdom? Did he know Costa Rica would do so well after following their squad? Or did he just say several controversial things hoping 1 or 2 would turn out to be correct?

lol, Savage does think he's a know it all. At least he's better than Andy Townsend who IMO is the biggest plank at the World Cup.

He's one of those people who makes me instantly turn off my telly or radio, I haven't listened to 6-0-6 in years for fear of accidentally catching him.
I know what he means by changing England set up, but he doesn't get his facts right. Shame he doesn't have a pair of trousers.

I noticed that, Savage then looked a bit embarrassed whilst trying unsuccessfully to explain what he meant
