Eastenders Lucy killer story seems to be having a bit of a break
I assume everyone is pleased next week will be the third week in a row it doesn't really future.
Most of the regular murder cast are not in it next week the Beales, the Brannings etc. I suppose it's good and bad good so we can see what else is happening, bad because it suggests that it is probably going on too long. There is also too few cast involved in the story which suggests that it only involves a few people so perhaps it will only mainly feature on branning and beale weeks in the months ahead |

I'm pleased by the pacing of this story. We know it's going to last for a long time, and accordingly not every murder in real life is wrapped up in a matter of weeks. It can take a lot of time to solve a crime like this. That gives us times when the story is going to be prominent, moving the investigation along, and frustrating times when it goes on the back burner and other characters/stories come to the front.
Ok, so the pacing of the show itself could be improved, but it's nowhere near as bad as the horrendous block-story-telling BK used to use, where characters would disappear for months on end (*cough*Chryed*cough*MaxineAndPatrickInHollyoaks*cough*), and if most of the other problems that cropped up on EE have been changed/improved, there's no indication that the pacing won't be improved either. TL;DR: I'm entertained. |

They are revisiting the storyline on Friday 11 July with a huge revelation according to BBC Press Office spoilers.
Friday 11 July (8pm-8:30pm) Some shocking new information comes to light when a Walford resident has a confession about the night Lucy was murdered. Lauren attempts to repair her relationship with Max are dismissed when Max hides the truth from her. Tina and Tosh visit an old friend and are shocked by what they find. Lauren is played by Jacqueline Jossa, Max by Jake Wood, Tina by Luisa Bradshaw-White and Tosh by Rebecca Scroggs. |

I've got a feeling Whitney will reveal something about the night Lucy night. Maybe she argued with her off screen and said some callous things to Lucy which could have made her suicidal. Or she saw Max grabbing Lucy's arm by the car lot?

It seems to have come to complete halt. Personally I think its way too slow. If we have to wait until next year for the reveal, nobody will care by then.

A lot of people on here keep defending it, saying it's supposed to be like this, building suspense, trying to mimic real life a bit more than usual, etc. but for me... the storyline features so few and far between that I've basically forgotten all about it until this thread. That doesn't seem great... |

I think everything about this storyline has been great so far. The focus has mainly been on the grief of the Beales, and the mystery is shaping up very steadily. It's a big, long-running story but instead of being rammed down our throats all the time, it has been allowed to hang in the background a little bit.

Thank god, it was already becoming tedious.

I don't think it's on a break as such....
I think the Carters and the Lucy storyline are very intertwined. I don't think it's coincidence we have the murder story and the Carters' story both seemingly played out over a very long time. Mick's friendship with Ian is something to be watched! Mark my words... |

To be honest I think a break from it is a good thing. We seemed to be going round in circles with not much development when it was featured more heavily. If they want to finish the story in February they really need to put it on a bit of a back burner- the whole Peter/Lauren taxi driver hunt over a number of episodes just became boring.
