Alison Newman is returning to EastEnders as DI Samantha Keeble the role she first played in 2008. She will be on screen until the story is over!

This is great news.

Not really. She is wasted as a police officer in EE. The should've waited a little longer and given her a proper part. Cops in EE never work out.

Who's crime was she investigating, can't place her?

Agree with this. Alison is a tremendous actress ideal for EE she should be cast in a regular role. Enough time has passed since she played the copper that most people will have forgotten and she could have easily played a new character. A terrible decision to bring her back as a police officer, such a wasted opportunity.

DTC did say as time went on the police officers would be getting their own storylines. We have already seen them start this with Emma so maybe they will do the same here. I would say the fact they have brought Alison back playing the exact same character suggests something is planned.

I agree though. Alison really should have been given a regular role.

Indeed they don't. One of the police dealing with Janine in 2004 appeared last year as Carl's mate.

EE have never had a recurring police officer as a main character though have they? Marsden is the only one who pops up every now and again - usually connected to Philth, She will probably be back once the gun goes off!

Hopefully they'll resolve the absolutely smoking tension between Phil and Marsden. His gun will be going off alright

Back in the eighties I think there was a policeman who appeared a couple of times on a recurring basis for awhile he married the yuppie Debbie Wilkins and she left with him.

I know the actress from footballers wives and other things but can't recall her on Eastenders!

It was during that storyline where Lauren ran over Max I think. It was a Branning story anyway. Her and Jack had history.

I'm probably imagining this but was she is a relationship with Richie Scott (Phil's lawyer) or was that someone else?

Loved her in Bad Girls and in Footballers Wives. She would have been good as a full time character,

As I said before, killing her off after two episodes was a stupid thing to do.

They should have kept her for longer and it would have been a great feud.

I couldn't agree more. They could've kept that one bubbling well into series 3.
Yvonne vs Renee. Ding ding.

I can't remember her from 2008 which is shocking as I think she's a brilliant actress and loved her in Bad Girls, Footballers Wives and Rock Rivals! What SL was she involved in on 2008? I really can't remember!
