Soapy Sinead: Not really new anymore, but recent-ish. She's been a pretty good addition, I think. She's very well suited to the Chez-bomb 3000, more so than Katy. She's not really handled anything big yet, but really, she seems a nice enough character.
Gorgeous Steph: Had to be my particular favorite. She's great. Obviously very attractive, but also a really good character, portrayed by a good actress. When she came in, I was never really able to see her involved in anything big, but she has been, and she's handled it pretty well.
Simply Kal: Complicated. On one level, he's a somewhat boring, somewhat cocky, silly puffy coat wearing, slightly in your face, slightly annoying kind of character. Yet at the same time, he's just so...normal, which I think is actually a very welcome addition. So far, he's just come across as a normal, fairly easy-going kind of man. He's not a borderline sociopath, or a hopeless alcoholic or a killer or an idiot or a love rat (yet) or an angry mess. He's just an everyday guy, which I think Corrie kind of needs, what with all it's freaks and nutters as well. It balances things out.
Unsettling Sharif: I like him. More so than Kal. I like his cold, calm sort of demeanor. Sort of like a slightly less wise, much younger, considerably more controlling, and much, much less magical version of Dumbledore. He works well with Dev. He's a good foil to Dev's hyperactivity and weirdness, they work quite well. He's not the sort of person you'd feel comfortable alone with, but he's the sort of person you might go to for advice, he seems the clever sort. I wonder if he'll get any scenes with Ken when he returns? I could see them both enjoying each other's company. Plus, one of my favorite types of character in any media is the bad-ass old man, and he kind of fits the bill.
New Tony: I do actually like him. What I like most is that he's come back in it because he misses Jason, and that's it. There's no hidden motive, he's not after money or Eileen, or a new kidney. It's refreshing to see someone re-introduced with seemingly totally honest intentions. I know he's involved in crime and that, but that's not why he came back. I especially liked him in those scenes with Liz the other day, he showed a much more caring side. I think that he works well with the Grimshaw clan, a welcome addition.
Afro Luke: Ehh. Just ehh. I don't dislike him, I don't like him. Just ehh. This is purely because of how little he has been involved so far, I suspect I shall form an opinion of him once I see more of him. So far, I'm kind of leaning towards "like" more than "dislike" but time will tell.
Greasy Maddy: Revolting. BUT, we all said pretty much the same about Becky and Kylie when they first came in. They both became very popular. The actress is decent enough, I reckon the same could happen again. She's already more likable than when she first came, but again, time will tell.
Grinning Andrea: Liked her when she came in, less so now, but that's because we know more about her now. I'm indifferent to her now, I wouldn't care if she went, but I wouldn't cheer her exit.
Les Dennis...oh sorry, Michael the Burglar: Too early to tell. Obviously he's a criminal, but he did seem to be genuinely sorry, and I think he'll be fairly likable. Plus, anything involving Gail and romance (if it comes to that) is going to be fairly entertaining, so I think he'll be a good addition.
Have I missed anyone out? All in all, I'm optimistic about the recent new cast, but what does everyone else think?
