Has Hollyoaks always been bizarre?
I've watched on and off over the years but I can't remember this past year being so bad (but in a weird way so good).
The stories run in a similar pattern where the villain will come up trumps until they are finally disposed. Twists in the stories are so unrealistic Hollyoaks doesn't reflect 'real life' in the way other main soaps do. Someone will always be recording, standing behind the door, close by when you are doing something bad. It's complete and utter madness

No it hasn't always been bizarre. It used to be quite realistic. Now there's attempted murders going on every five minutes in one village.

Yes its always been bizarre but in a different way than it is now. Its bizarre-ness used to be more about fun and random opening scenes etc.
I've watched it since the beginning, its never been as poor as it has been over the last year. |

I've watched it since the beginning, its never been as poor as it has been over the last year. Now it's just ridiculously over the top but trying to place itself in the realms of reality. That's the problem of having so many issue based stories while also doing murders, gangsters and stunts all the time. It just doesn't feel faintly plausible even though we're being asked to invest in and care about characters who change personalities depending on the episode. |
