Did they come out of the plane wearing headphones by any chance?

Did the rugby players get news coverage on their return from New Zealand or the cricketers on their way back from the Ashes/World Cup?

No wonder people get fed up of the football coverage when a few young men coming home on a plane is headline news!

Maybe they'll play FIFA on their free Xbox One and fail again ? I don't care that they got a free Xbox One (although I do think there are far more deserving kids who's parents can't afford it). The thing which winds me up is that the press think we care that they have arrived home, as if it was a one way journey but somehow they managed to find their way back.

Stop peddling this. If that was the case they'd just pull out like Harry Redknapp tells us definitely happens and not in any way is a bitter attempt to needle an England team that didn't hire him.

What's in it for them otherwise? Glory? Money? The chance to see countries you wouldn't normally? Which of those is accessible to England players who attract the worst kind of part-time and simple minded criticism?

For a multitude of reasons, you're quite right. I suspect most of the players, irrespective of how thick most of them are, know they're not good enough to compete at international level, so even pre tournament are of the mindset that they shouldn't even be bothering.

They don't get paid, so they don't want to do it. The photo of useless Wilshire standing around on the tarmac waiting for his Xbox before he went home, says it all. He saw it as his reward for having to go to Brazil for 2 weeks to play football unpaid.

When you're getting all that from a photo, I'm surprised more players don't retire from international football.

Yeah because thats what Multi Millionaires really need is an Xbox. And Players that performed this badly should not be allowed to use their place in the national squad to further their sponsorship deals.

What's he doing wrong apart from looking at the X-box as if its something he doesn't really fancy having (probably because they have all that at home..)

Just think of the reaction if they smiled and looked happy receiving such gifts from sponsors....

Maybe they will give such items away to family or friends...but that probably wouldn't get reported or just viewed as a PR stunt.

Will the cricketers be docked pay and rewards for losing their 7th test in 8 whilst also flopping at a World Cup?

Suppose it was all Kevin Pietersen fault...

Companies should be banned from choosing to use them as a sponsor?

There was a rumour that they would be flying into Glasgow so that they could get a heroes reception.

Trevor, promise me you'll count to 10 and not fly into a rage if you see one of them daring to smile in a photograph.

I do genuinely remember a bit of a media storm after the last World Cup because Ashley Cole had been spotted smiling and chatting to another player when they were getting off the plane.

For just once I'd like the players and manger just to come out and say sorry "we were crap, no excuses, and I hereby resign" instead they trot out the same old crap, the wether, the other teams were higher than us, the football, our boots, we're tired, we had injuries etc etc.

Jesus, what should happen when they get off the plane. We set some attack dogs on them and chuck monkey blood all over them to the sexual orgasms of a baying crowd of skinheads? Set fire to them? Set fire to England? nuke the world and end the human race?

"They have no passion" and why would they, because unless they come back with the trophy they are looked upon only one rung up from child molesters and used car salesmen.

If I played with England I would wipe my arse with the shirt and burn a huge pile of cash whilst singing SS songs just to piss the moronic tabloid reading imbeciles off.

We should have sent Ian Wright up in a Spifire to shoot them down, that's what. That'd teach 'em.

TBH I've not heard too many excuses being made about all that this time.

BIB - Can we hear that from the cricketers too..and I don't just mean getting rid of one player who might be a bit of a problem to handle.

What's their excuse for losing to Sri Lanka at home for the first time ever having flopped at their own World Cup and lost the Ashes 5-0 or does no-one really care? (Looking at the crowds at the last test it seems not)

We failed because we didn't have the discipline of Andy Carroll and his method "The Quick Carroll"

Rule #1. A man can't see, he can't pass.

Rule #2. A man can't stand, he can't shoot.

Rule #3. A man can't breathe, he can't play for 90 minutes.
