I'm just dumbfounded at the Daily Mirror. How the hell can you confuse 'death' with 'rushed to hospital'?

Hope she gets well soon, lovely lady and a true Street icon.

The Liverpool Echo is saying that she was rushed to hospital after a health scare and has been allowed back home after a few days in hospital.

Good to hear that she has not died - trouble is now with social media, wo rd has spread so fast

On the bright side, at least she can read all the lovely tribute messages from fans & see how loved she is !

People really should check with reliable sources (bbc news) before taking the words of facebook, twitter & rags like the mirror though!!

Yeah, I was surprised how many people accepted it on face value, without even a single source at first. The end result here shows why it's always better to wait for the news sites to pick it up.

I would not usually take any notice of Twitter or Facebook but because it was the Daily Mirror reporting it i believed it hence why i posted on here that Jean Alexander had died, i'm annoyed by it, imagine how Jean, her Family and Friends feel she must be furious.

If she had died it would be all over twitter and Sky News and BBC News would've done breaking news banners, etc. She was such a big character and is a television icon.

lol as much as Patsy was iconic, she was nowhere near as big as Jean - who pulled in millions every week for year after year.

Is it fact that her last show was & still is Corrie's highest ever viewing figures for a single episode?

Who's Patsy Byrne?

Just answering my own question after googling her! I've never watched Blackadder and genuinely had never heard of her.

I googled Jean's name when I saw that front cover on Sky just now and there was a piece by the Mirror saying she'd died. But the link didn't work.
When I read the actual article it said this 'rushed to hospital' story was days ago and she was back home!

It's funny how famous people (and talentless celebs) are never 'taken' to hospital but always 'rushed' there!

You're right, it would be big news.

She's a Corrie legend. There's not many of those left!

Even people who've never watched Corrie would know who Hilda Ogden is!

Exactly. Isn't her leaving episode the most watched Corrie episode ever?

She's a legend!
