If they'd just taken care of business against the US in the second game then it wouldn't have done. But maybe the psychological effect of the beating hampered them for the next game.

Pepe has a huge amount to answer for as far as Portugal are concerned.

US limp through with a defeat, Ghana and Portugal both self destructed in their own ways and the US reap the benefit. It looked like a group of death when it was drawn out but it turned into a damp squib.

Thought USA would progress, glad it weren't a draw though.

It's over and Germany-1....USA-0
I thought the 2nd half was more exciting than the first, and the USA did very well. Portugal and Ghana game over too...Portugal 2.....Ghana 1 |

Well no-one can say that these 2 settled for a draw. A very hard-earned victory for Germany and a decent game. Well done to USA as well for doing what England couldn't, USA have deserved qualification and will be hard for any team to beat.
Great support as well. |

Compare that to some of the teams who've gone through; Nigeria, Costa Rica, Greece, the USA, probably Algeria. The football world is changing. |

There seems something terribly wrong seeing the USA going further than England in the football World Cup

Whose left? The Dutch, France and urm.....Switzerland? And Belgium. And Russia, but they could be preping the Jet later this week. |

Jurgen's a proper Yank these days. The accent, the game was a tie not a draw, it's soccer not football, singing star spangled banner.

Great support as well. My husband said 'I forgot what this felt like.' (I had made him an honorary American today) Yeeeeeeeeeeeah. We believed...... And we got through our group of death! |
