Its like the slow exorcism of Europe from Brazil 2014.
Whose left? The Dutch, France and urm.....Switzerland? And Belgium. And Russia, but they could be preping the Jet later this week. |

USA is a big surprise. They're actually a pretty good team. Compared to past years, their defense has gotten much much better. They still need to control the game more but they're no longer pushovers and are damn near dangerous at times. They're as good as anyone else so far.

A draw would have been a very boring game to watch. I love teams getting goals and the more the merrier.

There seems something terribly wrong seeing the USA going further than England in the football World Cup

Yep, they are going to join us, Italy and Spain in the bin. You'd have got big odds on none of those four getting out the groups.
England Italy Portugal All out in the first round. Who would have predicted that? If anyone put a bet on that they must have won a fortune at the bookies. |

Germany probably the best team in the tournament up to now and the USA hold them for most of the match.
USA shows England how its done. Who'd have thought it.....! Maybe our national side should take up Baseball! |

I think they've got a very good chance of beating Belgium in the second round.

They drew with Ghana and had a hard win over USA. Other teams have been more impressive and won all three group matches. |

Anyone else finding it weird with Lahm playing defensive midfield? The LB they played there (Howedes) didn't play too great at all.

Okay, back on the computer now so I can properly celebrate with my fingers!
![]() Yeaaaaaaaah! Just came back from going outside with Husband and Lab in tow - both of us wearing our American gear and me whipping around in the air my football scarf and yelling, 'We're through! We're through!! And a person living in a house over the main road, I noticed was looking out and clapped his hands! hahaha I hope and pray that one day, hopefully soon, that as an England supporter I can feel this excited, relived and joyus for England. I believe.... I believe in *you* England!!! |

Told ya'll both teams would give it a go....too proud and too much support behind both just for a draw
![]() But I feel sorry for Portugal as their 2 goals means nothing, and I bet they're not feeling so great. |

In my opinion the team who look the strongest overall are Holland. They just look so strong and look like a team to fear. |

Depends if Belgoum turn up. On paper with Hazard, Lukaku etc Belgium should have too much but first two games they've hardly done anything.

I agree. I think that this USA performance exposed weaknesses in the German team which may not have been as apparent before.

I don't feel bad for Portugal, they scored 2 goals, doesn't matter if it was for nothing or not... they scored 2 goals - two goals-. They ended their World Cup with two goals in their last match. I don't think that's nothing - they went out with somewhat of a bang instead of a whimper.
Thanks Portugal! Ronaldo I will not say anything about your over gelled hair ever again! |

Oh I think it does matter, as this is the World cup and not a home game. They would have worked hard for those 2 goals, and then to end up going home, just isn't right. The scoring system should be changed.
Germany beat Portugal 4-0 Germany beat USA 1-0 USA and Portugal draw 2-2 with each other. Both USA and Portugal beat Ghana 2-1 (The USA worked hard for their 2 goals against Ghana too) To me that looks fair and right that USA deservedly go through. |
