Think that should've been a booking for Bradley there.

In the early stages of the match Germany looked so dominant, and USA couldn't even get the ball, I thought the USA were going to get whipped.
But as the match went on USA did get back into the game and they look better as an attacking team than a defending team. I think the USA have done really well so far and are back into the game. |

I must say, I love Brad Friedel as a pundit & analyser.
He talks so much sense. |

Danny Mills on BBC Radio 5 Live: Quote:
"I'm watching the United States playing in an all-white strip, and I'm thinking: It could be England out there. Except - and it pains me to say it - the United States are better than we are. I cannot believe I'm saying that, but it's true."
I can't really argue with that. USA might go on to win this, while I'm struggling to remember the last time England beat Germany.

As the second half begins, it's worth pointing out that it's looking good for both USA and Germany to qualify even if one beats the other because there's surely no way Portugal will make up their goal difference against Ghana to overtake either side.

USA are very well drilled
They basically have 6 at the back when Germany monopolise possession, the two wingers are nullifying the threat of Germany's attacking full backs and the two DM's protect the middle area However they aren't content just with this, when they sense an opportunity both their attacking full backs (Beazley / Johnson) break at will, and are usually supported by 3 in the middle; Dempsey and 2 of Bradley, Zusi or Jones It's really fluid, and despite being defensive for the majority they actually break in numbers Compare this to say Belgium or Japan who must have the slowest transition I've seen for any team in ages. Especially Japan, it basically takes them a minute to get more than one man in the box and by then I they are outnumber by around 6 opposition men |
