The Messi love-in would reach almost unbearable proportions if Argentina win the cup. Plus, Di Maria's a tw*t. Holland and France are currently my 2nd and 3rd teams.

FIFA rank Argentina just one place above Switzerland in their June 2014 table. Good old FIFA, eh.

Fair play to Switzerland, their anthem is even worse than ours (that's England, for those reading in black and white).

Being an unashamed Messi fan would like to see him lift the trophy. I'll go Argentina to win 3-1.

Some nasty anti-Di Maria commentary.

He's a world class player who deserves to win the biggest trophy of them all. I mean World Class, not England World Class.

Always cheering for the losers.

There's some lesson about life in there somewhere...

There will be a lot of tears worldwide I suspect if Argentina fail to win this WC.

just put a fiver on Messi to score two goals or more.

Was tempted to go for the hat trick, but I think two or more is actually quite likely

Can't even remember 1966, let alone who was playing.

Agree think it would cement his place as the best.

Messi has an outside chance of breaking Just Fontaines record with a few hatricks.

I don;t get that type of statement. George Best was world class. You could say Giggs deserved to at least be at a world cup.

It's a team game. The best team, or the one with the best luck, will win.

He'd have to go some and then some more to beat that! 2 goals a game from here on in won't even match the 13 goals.

Great atmosphere... the only thing that's great so far. The Swiss will be pleased with this start.

True, commentator, and you wouldn't want that crowd of 40,000 to start a riot, so Argentina had better win.
